Kitchen Whiz: Easy Fruit And Veggie Smoothies To Keep You Cool And Fit!

Nowadays, health and wellness have been increasing in popularity, with everyone from celebrities and social media influencers, to your friends and family, making noticeable changes to their diets and lifestyle. Not only do juices supply you with daily dose of nutrients; they’re easy to make, too! Here are some detoxifying homemade juices you can try making for yourself!

Avocado Detox Smoothie

This recipe calls for some of the most powerful superfoods like kale and avocado, giving it its bright green colour. Avocados are a great source of good fat, which improve cardiovascular health, strengthen bones, and help lose weight.

Recipe:

  • 1 1/2 cups apple juice
  • 2 cups spinach or kale (chopped and stemmed)
  • 1 apple (cored and chopped)
  • 1/2 avocado
  • Mix all ingredients in a blender, and blend.

Carrot Apple Juice

This bright orange juice isn’t only pretty but is delicious too, containing loads of antioxidants and minerals and is a good source of vitamins A, B, and K. It’s naturally sweet with a slight tartness from the apples, while ginger helps soothe your digestive system.

Recipe:

  • 1 large apple, cut into quarters
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks
  • 2 large carrots
  • 2 slices fresh ginger
  • Put ingredients through a juicer. Alternatively, these can also be mixed in a blender.

Berry Mango Smoothie

Now this drink is perfect for those who have a sweet tooth but are still trying to detox. Thanks to the berries, this smoothie will give you that naturally sweet, refreshing and nourishing drink, while the coconut cream is a good source of protein that will keep you full for hours.

Recipe:

  • 1 cup frozen berries
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango chunks
  • 1/2 cup coconut cream or plain greek yoghurt
  • 1 cup water
  • Mix all ingredients in a blender, and blend.

Perfect as a pre-beach trip drink, this should be your go-to drink on days that you feel slightly bloated. Turmeric, ginger and lemon are all great for detoxifying the body, while orange and carrots will help replenish the body of its nutrients.

Recipe:

  • 1 small slice of fresh turmeric
  • 1 slice fresh ginger
  • 4 carrots
  • 1 orange
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 3 stalks celery 
  • Put ingredients through a juicer. Alternatively, these can also be mixed in a blender.

The Ultimate Green Smoothie 

Start your day with this green smoothie that isn’t just packed with fibers and nutrients, but is also detoxifying, cleansing and energizing. This recipe includes a lot of greens but it actually tastes more like pineapple than vegetables, and is very refreshing. 

Recipe:

  • 3/4 cups kale or spinach, stemmed
  • 1/4 cucumber
  • 1 stalk celery
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon 
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp spirulina powder
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • Ice (optional) 
  • Mix all ingredients in a blender, and blend.
