Throwback Treasure: Your Fave Celebs Share Their Fave 'Live AIDS' Moments!

Some of our biggest and brightest local stars are reminiscing over their favorite Live AIDS moment online. This, as Live AIDS, an annual musical-comedy series mounted by UP Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Komuniksyon (UP SAMASKOM), returns for its 33rd edition titled "Live AIDS 33: G na G" on June 21-23.

Among these celebs taking a trip down memory lane are Vice Ganda, Lani Misalucha, Bianca Gonzalez, IC Mendoza, Renee Salud, Tim Yap, and Nina Alagao, who have all been avid viewers of the decades-long production.

Live AIDS 33 is poised to be the "funniest, most endearing, and most memorable" installment of Live AIDS, the country's longest-running musical comedy variety show. The Live AIDS (Ang Istoryang Dinebelop ng SAMASKOM or Acts, Improvisations, Dances, and Songs) concept started as an applicants’ batch project back in 1983 and has since grown into one of UP Diliman's biggest events tackling social issues with sharp satire comedy. Live AIDS has since prided itself as "an analysis, exposure, and creative satirization of the modern socio-political sphere we live in as well as the pop culture that has become so ingrained in our lives."

Director Deo Divinagracia helms the Live AIDS 33 production, looking to incorporate both classic and modern methods of direction, stage production, and writing. All, he said, to create yet another spectacle of social commentary and parody combined.

“The biggest challenge in directing and staging a LIVE AIDS production is staying relevant and meaningful while delivering the laughs that our loyal viewers are always expecting. Logistically, gathering students and alumni who have different priorities, interests, sensibilities, and schedules is also a huge challenge for a director," Divinagracia said in a release.

Over time, Live AIDS has also launched the careers of comedians Giselle Sanchez, Ate Glow, Michelle O’ Bombshell, Tuesday Vargas, and KaladKaren Davila among others.
