In Manila at the moment until early next month, the much-anticipated Big Bad Wolf Book Sale highlights augmented reality (AR) books for children among the expectedly huge selection it's bringing to our shores this year. Next to the Little Hippo AR books exclusive to the sale, the AR editions of Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the Three Bears mark a special addition to the other genres put at 50-90% discounts at the World Trade Center, Pasay City from February 22-March 4, 2019.
“Children will be able to read, play, and learn through the Little Hippo AR books, which uses cutting-edge AR technology to revolutionize reading for the next generation. These books ‘come to life’ as the characters speak, dance, and sing. This creates a ‘magical’ feeling for children which will help them get excited to read more," said Founder of the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale Jacqueline Ng in a statement.
The success of last year's edition encouraged the 24-hour open, free-for-all fair to return to the Philippines with more young adult fiction, romance, science fiction, crime thriller, business, self-help, architecture, design, cooking, children’s fiction, and activity books, among other genres.
“We’re happy to continue our long-term comitment to make books affordable and accessible,” added Ng.
Last year's success also saw the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale expanding to Cebu in July and Davao in November. The group, as part of its Red Readerhood Programme, also made a P5 million donation to Gawad Kalinga. The proceeds went to building and refurnishing of Gawad Kalinga communities.
