The first-ever ABS-CBN Ball is just around the corner and like Janella Salvador, we are with everyone else anticipating it. “ABS-CBN Ball na sya, hindi na siya Star Magic Ball! More people are attending, so I can’t wait to see who will show up on the red carpet na hindi namin nakita before,” she gushed as she got herself measured recently. While she teased that the night of September 29 will be “a lot bigger,” there’s another thing that made us curious: who will the Kapamilya star wear at the event?

Michael Leyva and Janella Salvador
With only a few weeks to go until the ball, the actress just had her first fitting with her chosen designer Michael Leyva—the man behind Kris Aquino’s gorgeous gown at the world premiere of Crazy Rich Asians. “We already have a particular design in mind,” Janella told ABS-CBN Lifestyle, adding that it was her stylist who helped her come up with the fashion decision. “Personally, I’ve always wanted to work with Michael Leyva."
Michael, on his own, created major ripples in both local and international design industries more so last year. After tailoring for the likes of Kim Chiu, Miles Ocampo, and Elisse Joson at the Star Magic Ball 2017, he went on to star Patty Ang and Mark Bumgarne at the #MetroWear2017. He also showcased his work at the LA Fashion Week last March.
Janella would surely be in good hands given Michael's philosophy in design: Let your muse inspire you. The designer told us, “When I see a client, I want her to be beautiful when she wears a Michael Leyva piece. Every dress that I create is different because I fit it with the personality of the one who’s gonna be wearing it.”
The design may remain a secret until the big night, but he has teased a change in the singer’s look. “Ito, iba talaga.” Janella could only add, “It’s gonna be very different from what I’ve been wearing for the past few years.”
