In Focus: 5 Reasons Why SNSD's SONEs Are The Most Loyal Fans

SNSD and SONEs are both in the K-pop industry for more than 10 years already. They're one of the groups and fandoms that helped shape the K-pop, and they probably know how the industry works already. At first, SONEs didn't expect SNSD to last this long as most girl groups during their days would disband after five years like S.E.S and Fin.K.L. It's safe to say that SNSD are good at managing their group and image, and they couldn't do this without the continuous love and support of their loyal fandom SONEs.

From disbandment rumors to dating scandals, SONEs have survived almost anything thrown at them, proving that they're the most loyal fans ever. Here, we listed down the reasons why nothing can shake their love for SNSD!

1. They didn't leave them during the black ocean issue.

Besides being known as the "Nation's Girl Group", SNSD also had an infamous moment that went down on K-pop history. In every K-pop group, there's this movement called the fandom ocean where they would wave their fandom color when their faves are performing which in return would make it look like a colorful ocean. In SNSD's case, their fandom color is pink that's why their lightstick produces that color whenever you turn it on. When the girls were promoting their single "Into The New World" at the Dream Concert 2008, instead of seeing a pink ocean, they were welcomed with a black and silent one. Well, there were many theories as to why this happened but nothing was ever confirmed, but the SONEs who were there still waved their pink lightstick even if almost everyone didn't. This was definitely appreciated by the group as the fandom grew bigger in the next year.

2. Jessica's departure didn't lessen their love.

One of the most controversial issues that happened in SNSD was when Jessica Jung left the group after seven years due to continuing schedule conflicts. It's a known fact that she was one of the members who has an important position in the group especially in communicating with their international fans as she can speak English fluently and has outstanding vocals. Everyone was left heartbroken by the news, even the other fandoms since the group was in the peak of their career. Although SNSD continued promoting with only eight members, SONEs never left their side. They even started fan projects to show their support for the group, something only true fans would do.

3. They support the members individually.

SNSD is one of the girl groups that has members that can still be successful outside of the group including Yoona who's currently known as one of the most sought-after actresses in South Korea and Taeyeon who's shining with her solo music career. Although there would be times that the members focus more on their own career first, SONEs have become understanding regarding this and had showed their support numerous times by watching, buying, and promoting their solo endeavors because they know how hard the girls have been working for them. If prioritizing their solo career first makes them happy, SONEs would understand and wait patiently for their group comeback.

4. They were not affected by the dating rumors.

It's known in the K-pop industry that in every fandom, there would always be fans who are too possessive with their idols. They don't like it when they read dating rumors about their faves or even just see them hanging out with other idols. That's why this is something we appreciate about the SONEs especially during the first few months of 2013 when most of the members were involved in dating scandals and eventually confirmed their relationships. Instead of leaving the fandom, most of them made this a positive thing as they're happy that the girls finally met guys who would take care of them as much as they do.

5. SNSD still stands because of SONEs.

The group received another wave of disbanding rumors with members Sooyoung, Tiffany, and Seohyun signing a contract with a different entertainment. The group shut the rumors down as their agency SM Entertainment launched a new sub-unit called Oh!GG with members Yoona, Taeyeon, Hyoyeon, Sunny, and Yuri. With all the issues the group faced, the loyalty of their fandom still remains. Their love for them didn't waver, and SONEs still believe that the day would come that the girls will come back with a new song with all eight (if possible, nine) of them together.

SONEs didn't protect SNSD for more than ten years just to leave them behind. And this is the reason why SNSD is one of the most legendary and iconic girl groups ever. SONEs, daebak!
