Coming from a family of singers and showbiz personalities, the gorgeous 16-year-old Angelina Cruz officially starts her musical career as she launches her self-titled debut EP "Angelina" last August 17, following the successes of her previous singles "Sumilong Ka" and her very own rendition of "Hanggang Kailan (Umuwi Ka Na Baby)" by Orange and Lemons. The EP consists of six all-original tracks including the song "Paraiso" which features actor-singer Iñigo Pascual.

As the daughter of actress Sunshine Cruz and actor Cesar Montano, you might have expected Angelina to be interested in acting instead of music. She did admit that while growing up, she wasn't really into singing yet. Although she can play the piano, she never really saw herself as a singer because it was always her sisters who enjoy singing. It all started when she learned to play the ukelele and eventually had to sing. Angelina recalls, "I recorded some of my covers and uploaded them on YouTube. That's how I thought I should hone my singing skills more and I should practice more. Eventually, Universal Records called up and that's when it started." When it comes to the artists who inspired her to become a singer, she shares, "I usually look up to my mom. But right now, I look up to Daniel Caesar, Rex Orange County, and HER."
Angelina is limited to ukelele at the moment, that's why her sound is mainly acoustic, but she wishes to explore different genres like R&B and write her own songs someday. Talking about the people she wants to collab with, she says, "the people in Universal Records like Donny Pangilinan. I already performed with Diego Loyzaga in ASAP before, and we also just recently rapped together. So one thing to cross of the list is maybe doing a song together."

Aside from her music career, Angelina's studies is also another thing that keeps her busy. The singer says, "I would always prioritize my studies before my career because education is really important. But I balance these two with time management which is just getting my priorities straight so everything wouldn't jumble out. So whenever I'm invited to a guesting or something, I would decline if I have a project or test that I have to focus on."
With her sweet sounding voice and charming personality, we know that Angelina would soon make everyone fall in love with her songs. And to the teens out there who want to pursue music like Angelina, she encourages you to never doubt your capabilities and just believe in yourself. You'll never know, maybe someday you'll be in the same stage as her!
