From playing Maya Hart in the hit Disney Channel original series Girl Meets World to releasing chart-topping singles like "Why" and "Thumbs", we could definitely see why 19-year-old Sabrina Carpenter would become one of the world's biggest stars in the near future. And so we felt so blessed to have caught up with Sabrina during her press conference at Marco Polo last August 23 before her series of shows at Eastwood Plaza and Venice Grand Canal.
And because of her brand new single "Almost Love" that is practically the bop that saved us, we asked her what her songwriting process is like, and she shared, "It happens quickly over the past couple of years that I've been writing. It grows in a way that I realize that there isn't only one way to write. Sometimes, I start with melodies or with beats. Sometimes, I just start on instruments like piano and guitar. Every song is different."
Sabrina also told us that she draws inspiration from her own life experiences because she thinks that it's the easiest way to know exactly what she's talking about. Of course, as a songwriter, you can't also avoid the moments when you would just have to use your imagination. Sabrina says, "I think I've been inspired by so many people along the way while growing up." There's no surprise that this amazing singer's biggest inspirations are Christina Aguillera, Beyonce, and Adele who have motivated her not only to write and sing, but also to perform.
Since we're currently obsessed with her smooth yet powerful vocals, we can't help but ask Sabrina to play the Game of Song Association with us! Watch the video below as she further amazes us with her voice and adorable personality!
