Remember the 90s hits Twin Fists For Justice, Sige… Ihataw Mo!, and Todong-todo? Save those nostalgic feels because the powerhouse production behind those movies Bell Films is back and bigger than ever. With its last operations dating back to almost a score ago, 1960s-founded Bell Films is back as the official production arm of Universal Records. And while the digital and film landscape isn’t the same as it was 60 years ago, this film house sees it as an opportunity to adapt and be relevant to its Filipino audience through its bold filmmaking.
Bannering the film company's return is Kontradiksyon, an analysis of the Philippines’ current drug war situation in cinematic form. An anticipated mainstream flick with a controversial theme, Kontradiksyon is a wordplay of kontra and adiksyon. It's directed by multi-Palanca award-winning writer Njel De Mesa, starring the country’s big names: Jake Cuenca, Kris Bernal, John Estrada, Katrina Halili, and many more.
Bell Films announced this and its return at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier in Taguig City last June 30. It did so with a mini concert titled “The Next Attraction,” featuring Christian Bautista, Freddie Aguilar, Vina Morales, and Julie Anne San Jose. It went on with a panel interview of the Kontradiksyon cast, plus the premiere of the film's official soundtrack “Norem.” Gloc-9 and Shanti Dope performed the latter.
