Every year, robotics enthusiasts from over 38 countries gather for the International Robot Olympiad, a three-day event filled with workshops and challenges. The event aims to develop students' talents in the field and sciene of robots. On its 20th year, the IRO is set to host here in the Philippines this coming December.
In preparation for this big event, the Philippine IRO organizer is staging the IRO Preliminaries and Summer Sumo Games 2018 on June 16 to 17, to be held at the De La Salle Santiago Zobel School in Muntinlupa.
“We hope to stage the best IRO event and at the same time showcase the Filipino youth’s big leap in terms of robotics programming and building,” said Mr. Anthony Gabitan, President of the Philippine Robotics Team.
Roughly a total of 30 schools and 300 delegates are set to participate in the different sub-events and game categories of the IRO Preliminaries. It kickstarts with the 4th Youth Robotics Convention where champions and mentors get to share anecdotes of their experience in different projects.
Newbies in world of robotics may also test their skills in the Poster Making Contest, while the rest of the convention participants may join the Robotics Workshop, 3D Printing Seminar, and Digital Science Camp.
The main game events are subdivided into Junior Division for kids 12 years and below, and Challenge Division for participants under 19 years old. There will also be a reserved Sumo game for teachers and coaches and Family groups.
Applicants who wish to register for the Games or Convention may send an email to [email protected].
The 20th INTERNATIONAL ROBOT OLYMPIAD will take place on December 15-18, 2018 at the De La Salle Zobel School, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
