The idea of doing something you love for a living may be far-fetched for some people. It may sound impossible, but believe us when we tell you that it can definitely come true! It's not going to be an easy ride to get there, but it's definitely worth it.
Most of us still have no idea what we want to do with our lives. So if you already know what you want your career to look like in the future, then you're already one step ahead on making it possible. But what does it really feel like once you have your dream job right in front of you already? If you want to know the perks and the challenges you have to face to keep it, scroll on!
1. There would come a time when the excitement would die down.
For the first few weeks into your dream job, the excitement and anticipation as to what it holds for the day would be there. But the moment you start getting comfortable with your position, the rush you once felt would die down. You would also realize that just because it's something you're passionate about, it doesn't mean that there wouldn't be any stressful days that come with it. Don't worry because it doesn't mean that your love for it is not there anymore. Just keep that fire burning with new learnings and know that there's always something beyond the mundane, and you'll surely get through those trying moments!
2. Your biggest competition would be yourself.
Of course, you would want to do good in your dream job. You would set goals to achieve and collect ideas to help your company improve that would make your workmates proud of you. But you wouldn't be always like this. So when the days where you didn't succeed in your goal for the day happens, you would punish and get mad at yourself for failing to surpass your own expectations. In your mind, you would be jealous of your past self who's better at doing your workload than your current self. The lesson here is that you should constantly strive to get better especially when you feel like you've let yourself down. Stand back up again, sis!
3. You would notice that time flies by so fast.
Once you get your dream job, there would be a feeling of contentment in you wherein you wouldn't be so interested to go look for something else anymore. And because of this you wouldn't notice how long you've been doing it already. Take this as a good sign since they say that time flies by fast when you're having fun, and it seems like you are!
4. You would want to do better everyday.
This is something that you need to feel in everything that you do. But it becomes more motivating if it's with something you really wanted to do like your dream job. You wouldn't call it a dream if it's not something that you know you wouldn't mind doing for the next several years, right? You promised yourself before that once you get there, you would give your best. So give it your A-game each chance you get!
5. Your job wouldn't feel like a job at all.
One of the things that makes your situation special is that it doesn't feel like you're working at all. It may sound like a myth, but this feeling does exist. It's because you're having fun, and it's something that you're passionate about. Given this fact, you wouldn't mind doing ten times more for it. You might still get tired and unmotivated in some days, but there would always be something that would bring your energy back.
6. You would want to achieve more.
Being contented with your career doesn't necessarily mean you wouldn't want to reach for something higher. You may start to aspire for a higher position or look for a new environment with bigger challenges. Having a desire to do more doesn't also mean that your current one has become boring to you. It just means that you know that building your career is a process; it's not going to be a one-way destination. So, by all means, go on, and dream even BIGGER!
Are you excited for the career ahead of you? You may feel some jitters or doubts creeping in. But as long as you put your heart into it, the future that you've always envisioned will soon manifest!
