Luckily, Manila is starting to catch its stride in keeping up with offering good coffee! So, if you are always on the hunt for high-quality, artisanal coffee, then these are the places worth satisfying your coffee cravings.
% Arabica is a franchise originally from Kyoto, Japan. Their menu is quite straightforward, but you can get your drink in their signature blend or opt for the single origin beans. An iced latte would be perfect for hot summer days, and for something sweeter, their iced Spanish latte is worth a try.
Curator Coffee & Cocktails
Located right in the center of Makati, this newly renovated space in Legaspi Village could easily be your new favourite hang out place, and the best part about it is that they offer some pretty good coffee (and it’s quite hidden too!) They also host coffee tastings, and if you’d like to shift to something more relaxing, they also have an extensive menu of well-made alcoholic cocktails.
A breather for those that live in the south to escape traversing to the bustling CBD’s of the north, Magnum Opus is a sure fire haven for all coffee aficionados. Located in BF Homes in Paranaque, this hidden gem boasts of its specialties, the Belgian Heartbreak, which is a concoction of a shot of espresso, real Belgian chocolate and steamed milk, as well as their signature Monte Cristo.
Gaining immediate popularity for being the only shop that served its coffee brewed with an AeroPress, Habitual Coffee has now evolved into a relaxing café fit for everyone, since it started serving more options such as espresso based drinks. Habitual is also one of the few cafes that sell local beans from Kalsada Coffee, a brand known for their single origin beans from Benguet.
Bean & Yolk
With Poblacion being everyone’s new go to place, it isn’t a surprise that cafes are popping up in this area too. Found along Polaris Street, Bean & Yolk is known for their espresso based drinks, though they also offer a number of specialty drinks like the Espresso Milkshake and the popular B&Y Mocha. They also serve solid grilled cheese sandwiches like Cara’s Fave, which consists of fried egg, mozzarella, cheddar cheese, and hot honey on brioche!
When Caravan Black first opened, it quickly built a reputation for serving great specialty coffee and one of the reasons for this is because they get their beans and their top notch equipment from Yardstick Coffee. Today, Caravan Black has become a daily neighborhood coffee stop for those who work in the area, or those who just want to relax. It’s also worth noting that they are one of the few cafes that serve Nitro Cold Brew coffee!
