At the edge of her teenage years, showbiz sweetheart Kisses Delavin is blooming in every sense of the word. It's only been a year since she broke through our television screens as a Pinoy Big Brother housemate, but it seems as though she's already gone farther than most budding artists her age. And as fresh talent, Kisses is currently at a point where she's continously discovering herself and exploring an industry that has welcomed her with open arms.
Since her runner-up finish in the Pinoy Big Brother Lucky 7 race, Kisses claims that showbiz has allowed her to appreciate everything no matter how challenging the work may get. “I’ve learned to count my blessings more,” shared the 19-year-old star. “I didn’t expect showbiz to be so good to me, and I thank God for everything that I was given.”
Shortly after graduating from being a housemate, Kisses nabbed a supporting role in a film with her fellow PBB Big Placers and starred in episodes of various TV shows and series that earned her a spot in today's roster of biggest teen sensations. Little did she know that it was only the beginning, and she’d yet to fully spread her wings when she finally continued down her path to stardom as a recording artist.
Kisses revealed that because her fans expressed their hopes that the young artist would release a single, she was encouraged to kick off her solo career by exploring the music industry. “It took me months of vocal training and learning how to sing and carry myself on stage,” she explained, recalling the process she had to go through just to give back to her fans who have given nothing but the strongest support to her through thick and thin.
It was also thanks to her supporters that Kisses’ album received Platinum status within a month of its release and that her concert at the Kia Theater was a full house. “My six-year-old self would never have thought that this would be possible pero sobrang galling talaga ni Lord,” gushed the “Di Ko Lang Masabi” singer.
No less than a year after her musical feat, Kisses is diving back into acting with her upcoming film, Walwal, where she's starring with hearthrob Donny Pangilinan. It comes as no surprise that Kisses was more than humbled to be a part of the project especially upon finding out that the cast had been handpicked.
With Walwal being the first film Kisses would star in after breaking away from her previous love team with Marco Gallo, we asked how the experience has been different for her thus far. “As a solo artist, I get to work with different people,” she started. “It’s very exciting because I get to work with different techniques and methods of acting. It’s so cool because I can learn from my new co-stars, too.”
Flying solo has definitely made this young star more flexible as an artist. And though she is clearly enjoying the spotlight on her own, Kisses revealed that she wouldn’t shy away if her management decided to give her a partner again. “It all depends on the people who give me all these opportunities,” said Kisses. “I’m just happy to do it either way.”
Love team or not, we’re just glad to see Kisses exploring her potential in her own terms. From here on out, we're convinced that this rising star is going places with her persevering nature, gentle heart, and new-found resilience as an artist.
