In Focus: The Ever-Fierce Breastfeeding Advocate Marian Rivera On Her Commitment To Motherhood

Marian Rivera has only gotten hotter, even now as a mom to the beautiful Maria Letizia Dantes.  WHIP, if you may. In her single days, she has always exuded that kind of effortless sexiness and unapologetic fierceness—this, she has carried on even in the stage obsessed and judgmental showbiz onlookers would say as her losyang years. Motherhood obviously hasn't fazed this feisty actress-performer. In fact, she shared at Mega Prime's Prime Mom Club launch that she's a proud breastfeeding advocate! Here, she tells us more about how being a mom has furthered her strong character, again without being sorry whatsoever. Salute!

Who’s your female role model growing up?
Marian: Growing up kasi laki akong lola, eh.

How would you compare the state of gender equality then and now?
M: Nako, mahirap, eh. So medyo maingat ako sa ganyan at nakakatakot. ‘Yun talaga eh.

How do you react to “victim-shaming” every time you hear about it in the news?
Kaya ako, I want to be a role model. Hindi para sabihing “Ay, ang galing ko!” No. Para sa sarili ko, ito ako, nagbi-breastfeeding, mahal ko sarili ko, nagko-CrossFit ako, to be fit, to be healthy, para na din sa anak ko.

In your own ways, how do you empower your fellow women?
M: Tinataguyod ko ang sambayanang kaPilipinahan about breastfeeding, eh. Exposed talaga ako at sinasabi ko talaga na nagpapadede ako for two and a half years. Kapag mahal mo talaga, gagawin mo talaga lahat, isa-sacrifice mo talaga ang sarili mo and I don’t care—mag-sag yung boobs ko, lumaki yung nipple ko, I don’t give a f*ck.
