For us runners, traithletes, and other endurance athletes, nothing excites us more than hearing the word "racecation." It’s a new term for the millennial era that our kind have coined to describe the whole experience of traveling to a holiday destination with another goal in mind other than just to have a vacation, which is to race: whether it be a marathon, triathlon, or the like. And this is what Guam’s premier running event—the United Airlines Guam Marathon (UAGM) on its sixth year is all about.
If you're tired of the same old city marathon or would want a new running view, this might just be perfect for you. The event takes off and concludes with the UAGM Finish Line and Finisher’s Beach Party where runners can bask in the beauty of Ypao Beach and the scenic Tumon Bay. This event includes 5k, 10k, half marathon (13.1 miles), and marathon (26.2 miles) race distances.
The course has been certified by AIMS/IAAF and is a Boston Marathon qualifier. AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) is affiliated with the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), the world governing body for the sport of track and field.
Interested participants can register at the Guam Visitors Bureau Philippines Office at 8491 Rockwell Drive corner Kalayaan Ave, Poblacion, Makati City. There are special packages including airfare, accomodations, and race registration fee—all in. Just get in touch with Marge Pateñafirstname.lastname@example.org) to learn more about these packages.
