Hot Stuff: Yep, Black Panther's Official Soundtrack Blew Our Minds, Too!

Black Panther has been filling up cinemas to the brim from Valentine’s Day til the past weeks making it the blockbuster for the love season despite the film going against tropes of romcoms or dramas for date-going audiences. But let’s take time to talk about the amazing soundtrack that this film has come out with. Black Panther’s helmsman Ryan Coogler contracted Kendrick Lamar to curate the OST for the film as his vision coincided with the Grammy award winning artist’s urban sensibilities. The result is an album that could rival even Lamar’s own Grammy nominated album, DAMN, containing exciting collabs with some of the top hip hop artists of this generation!

First single off the album is ‘All the Stars’ from Kendrick himself featuring SZA and is one of the most played tracks now on radio and in streaming platforms. Its success is not surprising as it is the most pop sounding among all the songs in the soundtrack.

The next release "King’s Dead" was Lamar with Jay Rock, Future, and James Blake featuring different flavors of hip hop, much like a buffet for urban music loving listeners.

The latest single from the OST is "Pray For Me" from The Weeknd and Lamar which is a perfect marriage of these two artists’ musical styles. It is also part of the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot100 singles at the moment along with "All The Stars."

Other notable tracks are bass-driven "Opps" by Vince Staples and Yugen Blakrok; smooth R&B track; "The Ways" by Khalid and Swae Lee; and the slow jam, "I Am" by Jorja Smith, adding even more variety to this awesome soundtrack. It’s no wonder that the OST has spent the past two weeks in the top spot of the Billboard 200 albums. So don’t just take my word for it. Download it now!
