British songstress Dua Lipa has had an amazing year so far. After breaking out with the worldwide smash 'New Rules,' the popstar has garnered a number of accolades including a few trophies from this year's Brit Awards including 'British Female Solo Artist.' What made the most buzz, however, is her eye-catching, poofy, pink gown from the red carpet.
Dua made a major red carpet moment by sporting a dreamy frock from Giambattista Valli's Spring 2018 Couture collection. The singer was decorated in tiers and tiers ruffled tulle that made her look like the prettiest cake topper that we've ever seen!
The gown's style recalls the nostalgic days of our childhood when we used to play pretend to be a fairy or a princess! And because it's prom season, we thought this trend just came right on time!
Days later, Kim Kardashian posted her own version of the blush pink, ruffled tulle gown reminsicent of what Dua wore. Between Kim and Dua's frocks, this got us to thinking that this might be the the biggest fashion statement you could make!
It may seem extravagant and intimidating at first look, but the bigger ruffles the better when it comes to this style. Dua made it work by breaking the slew of ruffles by putting a black bow that also contrasts the soft pink gown. Meanwhile, Kim made the look more fashion forward by accessorizing with a cool pair of '90s-style sunnies.
You might think this style is only trending now but, as always, the ultimate fashionista Rihanna did it first years ago with another Giambattista Valli creation at the 2015 Grammys. A great way to easily wear this style is by keeping your hair and makeup simple as to balance your already voliminous outfit. Just like what Riri did by wearing only a sleek top knot.
Pink isn't the only option for this ruffled delight as you can opt to explore other pastel shades such as a soft yellow or lilac. The silhouette lends itself well to be paired with such hues without making it look too cheesy.
If you're not fully committed to looking like cotton candy, you could also rock the look in all black like supermodel Kendall Jenner did at this year's Golden Globes. Black will be anything but basic when it comes in overflowing layers of tulle!
Why wait 'till your wedding to feel like a princess when you could be the belle of the ball at your prom? This confection of a dress may take you out of your comfort zone but it's a great feeling to step out and go bold. Will you make your ruffled fantasy come true? Let us know below!
