Daily Diaries: Why It's Totally Okay If You're A 'Relationship Virgin'

In a generation where it seems like everyone is or has been in a relationship, being a "relationship virgin" or having no boyfriend or girlfriend since birth can sound awkward and make you feel like you are the odd one out.

Surprisingly, you are not alone; there's quite a good number of people out there who have never been in a relationship, too. And guess what? Even though it might seem like you are missing out on a lot or people make it seem like you are not cool enough, it's not exactly so. Here are the reasons why you shouldn't worry or even hurry about it.

1. Relationships tend to be a source of distraction. Relationships are very time-consuming and energy exerting. Especially when you are still a student, there are a lot of other important things that demand your undivided attention. Never been in a relationship? Lucky you! At least you're still free from distractions for now–no past relationship issues to worry about or a broken heart to mend. This should be the most carefree time of your life, and all you have to do is make the most out of it.

2. You know what you want. There is a tendency that people's comments or reactions towards your relationship virginity will make you feel like you are not attractive or cool enough to have someone love you. But that is absolutely untrue, because this could be the ultimate proof that you know exactly what you want and you are not ready to compromise or settle for less even if it takes time.

3.Relationships can be messy and you are not ready for it. Being in a relationships might seem like the most romantic thing in the world, but other times, it gets really messy and full of drama. Chances are you are probably not ready to all handle all that drama, exhaustive arguments, responsibilities, and pressure, and that is perfectly fine.

4. Love will come in due time. There is no need to rush or feel unworthy. Relationships can be challenging. It is wise to enjoy your singlehood, while investing your time in buiilding yourself. In due time, as you open your heart, love will find it's way in because you are finally ready of it. Keep in mind that there is no limited time or particular age to have your first relationship!

5. Not everyone has been in a relationship. We said this earlier on, and it needs a repeat. It's true–the fact that it seems everyone had their share of the relationship cake doesn't mean that there aren't people who have never been in one before. So don't feel bad, because you are not alone!

Don't let the crowd force you into something you aren't ready for or make you feel bad about your status. Take it as an opportunity to improve yourself and make the most of what you have now, while waiting for that special someone.
