Janella Salvador has come a long way since her breakthrough debut role as a young actress on the hit daytime series Be Careful With My Heart back in 2012. From romantic comedy to horror, she has truly proven her versatility as an actress. And though she has shown her potential to become one of the biggest actresses of her generation, Janella is first and foremost a singer at heart.
The songstress not only dominated the local music scene—Janella also took a global step as one of the Southeast Asian artists who recorded their own official versions of the theme song to Disney's Moana entitled "How Far I'll Go." Her version of the song currently has the highest views out of all the Southeast Asian versions. However, before she even made it official as a singer by releasing her self-titled album in 2015, music had played a big part in her life growing up.
Much like her on-screen partner Elmo Magalona, Janella grew up to all kinds of music from OPM to classical. And given that her mother is Jenine Desiderio, an alumna of the West End musical "Miss Saigon" who played the lead character Kim, it's inevitable that Janella has a voice of her own that deserves to be heard.
And though her career as an actress and recording artist is sailing smoothly, there is still much that our darling Janella wants to accomplish. She admits to wanting to be a part of "Miss Saigon", playfully denying all bias just because her mother once starred in the said musical. "I really love Miss Saigon," Janella gushes. "The role of Kim is something I really want to portray."
We're all dying to see Janella on stage as "Kim," but it seems she still has a lot of plans before she fulfills that particular dream as she doesn't seem to picture herself going broadway in the near future. However, she does plan on getting back on working on her music. "I would like to continue my music," said the singer-actress. "I hope to make a second album this year."
We're keeping our fingers crossed, but until then, we'll all just have to wait. For now, our LSS on her current single "Be My Fairy Tale" from her newest film with Elmo entitled My Fairy Tail Love Story will keep Janella's enchanting voice ringing in our heads for a while.
