There is something just magically optimistic and inspiring about New Year, which is why maybe some including the Koreans celebrate it a little grander than how we usually do with Christmas. For many Pinoys, however, changing for the better usually follows a list called New Year's Resolutions, a set of rather repetitive and customary promises we swear to ourselves to become, yes, better people. Every year, we are reinvigorated for the usuals: to get fit, to eat healthier, to invest in better things, to pay our debts, to be nicer, to forgive and forget, and all that jazz. While our yearly New Year's Resolutions make one good reason why switching calendars is a beautiful thing, how much of it are kept throughout the year and more? No, really? And how do we make sure we aren't just riding this tired bandwagon year by year?
We went ahead and asked some of our favorite stand-up comedians-cum-life gurus from iflix's Hoy! Bibig Mo! to remind us about the most annoying, non-realistic resolutions Pinoy annually swear by. We also got some genius advice on how to turn our meant-to-be broken promises to our advantage! #NewYearNewMe? More like, #NewYearWiserMe!
