It is quite known that most Korean idols are only close to their labelmates (or even sometimes only their members) which is one of the reasons why terms like YG Family, SM Town, and JYP Family have been coined. So when interactions between non-labelmates are seen in music shows, events, and even on social media, fans get excited!
We made a list of our favorite friendships outside the group and agency, showing that there's no such thing as 'clash' when it comes to our idols!
1. JYJ's Jaejoong and 2NE1's Dara
It has been rumored before that Jaejoong and Dara were spotted hanging out together multiple times, and thus their shippers were born. Still, the rumor was never proven because there was no picture shared which is why a lot of people assumed that they weren't really close! So everyone got shocked when Jaejoong recently shared a photo together with Dara during BIGBANG's concert, captioning that they had met up again after ten years, proving that they've been friends since their pre-debut days!
2. BIGBANG's Seungri and KARA's Hara
A lot of people might not know, but Seungri and Hara have been friends for more than ten years! They've been the best of friends since childhood, even sharing stuff about each other that most fans don't know. Seungri stated in his interview with SBS's One Night of TV Entertainment that if he ever has to call anybody, Hara is one of the people who would answer immediately. It must be nice to know that one of your childhood friends is in the same industry as you!
3. BLACKPINK's Lisa and GOT7's Bam Bam
Another pair of childhood friends, Lisa and Bam Bam have been tight since they were dreaming of becoming an idol! The two got to know each other when they were part of the same dance group before joining their individual agencies. Plus, the two were both from Thailand with Lisa stating that she's close with her co-Thai artists in South Korea like GOT7's Bam Bam, 2PM's Nickhun, and CLC's Sorn. The two got a chance to meet again in music and award shows, and fans get hyped up every time there's an interaction between these K-pop stars!
4. BLACKPINK's Jennie and TWICE's Nayeon
Being two of the mbost popular girl groups today, BLACKPINK and TWICE can be considered as rivals. But despite this fact, the competition doesn't exist among the members seeing that Jennie and Nayeon have been besties ever since they were just trainees. It's not really a surprise to most people, especially their fans, because they're always spotted together during music shows. They even got matching nails to prove their friendship is real!
5. EXO's D.O. and BTS's Jin
Probably two of the biggest rival K-pop groups, EXO and BTS can start fan wars like no other. When it comes to the members, we don't really see that much interaction among them. So fans and netizens were shocked to find out that EXO's D.O., also known as Kyungsoo, invited BTS's Jin to the opening ceremony of his movie Pure Love! Fans who were there also mentioned that they saw the two talking comfortably with each other. There were no pictures to prove their friendship, but hearing Jin recommend D.O.'s movie during one of his interviews is enough proof for us to make us feel giddy!
This goes to show that even the groups that are pitted as rivals are actually friendly IRL, so there's no reason for all those fan wars! Which K-pop friendships are your favorite? Let us know in the comments below!
