Winter season is an anticipated season in Korea because it means cozy #OOTD-worthy clothes, more reasons to eat spicy food, snow-filled holidays, and lots of fun winter activities! So if you're planning to spend the first couple of months of 2018 in South Korea, here's a list of places you should make room for in your itinerary!
1. Bearstown Ski Resort in Gyeonggi-do
Where there's snow, there's definitely skiing. If you have noticed in some K-dramas, winter season is never complete without a scene in a ski resort. Goblin and Legend of the Blue Sea are just a couple of examples which make ski resorts a popular tourist destination in Korea. Bearstown is particularly one of the most visited ski resorts because it's the closest one in the capital city of Seoul. Plus, they also offer snowboarding!
2. The Snow Buster sledding hill at Everland
If you're not into sports actvities like skiing or snowboarding but still want to feel the thrill in the snow, this attraction is perfect for you! Just imagine going down a hill in a line together with your whole fam or squad! Sounds a whole lot of fun!
3. The Grand Hyatt Ice Skating Rink in Itaewon-dong
You've probably seen this skating rink in a handful of dramas including the phenomenal Boys Over Flowers. People actually describe the Grand Hyatt skating rink as one of the most beautiful places in South Korea because of its sunning view of the Hangang River at night. This winter wonderland is decorated with fairy lights and embellished trees, making it a popular winter destination for couples who want a romantic ambience. Just imagine going there with your very own Gu Jun Pyo! So kilig!
4. The LED Rose Garden in Dongdaemun Design Plaza
The LED Rose Garden in Dongdaenum (which inspired the LED Rose Garden in Cebu) is the dreamiest destination you can visit in South Korea this time of year! This is definitely an Instagram-worthy spot with more than 20,000 LED roses that already appear lovely during the day, but look even more dazzling when nighttime comes! Admission is free here so nothing can stop you from making the most out of this magical place!
5. Petite France in Gyeonggi-do
If you want some French experience that's closer to home, Korea's mini French village Petite France is a must-visit! It's a famous filming location for K-dramas like My Love From The Star and Secret Garden. During the winter season, Petite France becomes more magical than ever with breathtaking Christmas decors and fairy lights that weave throughout the village. The Little Prince Lighting Festival is the must-see attraction here which runs every Friday and Saturday where you will find musical performances, street magicians, and other fun-filled events you can only experience during the winter!
Having no winter season here in the Philippines heightens our need to experience it in other countries. So if you're looking for a snow-filled getaway, then a trip to Korea is a must! Which one made it to your itinerary? Any more recommendations? Let us know in the comments below!
