The University of Santo Tomas is deemed to have one of the most beautiful campuses around the world, so lucky are the Thomasians to have the opportunity to call UST their second home! Little do the rest of the world know that the campus is even more enchanting during the holidays.
UST is yet to fail when it comes to celebrating Christmas and that's why the students are all the more blessed when the holiday season rolls around! Here are some of the Christmas feels that only Thomasians will understand, and other can only wish to do so!
1. Opening of the Christmas lights
The ceremonious opening of the Christmas lights around the campus is one of the most celebrated holiday kick-offs in the metro. The fascination of the passengers riding along España is nothing compared to the heartwarming wonder that fills every Thomasians when the campus lights up.
2. UST's Christmas Tree
Next to the UST Grandstand stands the biggest Christmas tree España has ever seen. Every year, before the grand reveal, students are left to wonder just what this year's holiday centerpiece will look like and the university never fails to slay every other Christmas tree in the city.
3. The Agape rush
If you asked Thomasians to pick a favorite holiday festivity, you'd find a lot of them torn between Paskuhan and the celebration of Agape. Who doesn't love a whole evening of free food? We don't care how long the line gets! We're all willing to wait until they lock the campus gates up!
4. The Paskuhan line-up reveal
The Paskuhan concert has been known to feature the biggest OPM bands (like Hale, Moonstar88, Silent Sanctuary and Parokya ni Edgar) ever since we can remember. Every Thomasian surely has a dream lineup in mind that they post on social media, hoping that the student organizations will hear them out!
5. The suspense brought upon by inclement weather
Many university-wide activities have been postponed one too many times "due to inclement weather." However, when talking about Paskuhan, the question isn't whether it's going to rain or not but how heavy the rainfall will be because we'll be there either way!
6. One-night-only Asturias party
The campus isn't big enough to accommodate all the students who want to celebrate Christmas with their friends. That's why a lot of them go to Asturias-a street that's quiet and ordinary on any other day of the year but is bustling with night life during Paskuhan.
7. Paskuhan fireworks display
"There goes my tuition" is a common joke among the students of UST during the big finale, but that doesn't mean we're not proud that UST knows how to put on a show! This is why the fireworks display is the most awaited spectacle of the night!
No other university knows how to get their Christmas on like UST does, and that's why there's nowhere else we'd rather be during this time of the year. Merry Christmas, Thomasians! What's your favorite holiday memory in the campus? Share them below!
