Being with a special someone this time of year has its perks—who wouldn't want to have a cuddle buddy throughtout the Brrrrr month, right? While being in a relationship will surely give your holidays that extra spark, there's no real reason to feel dispirited if you're single this season.
With that in mind, your current relationship status doesn't mean you have to lock yourself away for the entire holiday break and miss out on the joyous spirit of Christmas. Stop reminiscing about the past Christmases you spent with a date, and focus on enjoy yourself differently this year! Check out our cheat sheet below!
1. You can always sleep in.
Being single doesn't require you to do much when the holiday season kicks in. Having the luxury of time to rest and prep yourself for the endless Christmas shopping and celebrations is an advantage worth grabbing! Imagine the glow you'll get just in time for Christmas!
2. Connect with your family.
Who else can you turn to other than the people who knows you best? Do silly things with your siblings or treat your parents to a dinner. Take on activities that will bond you as a family like cooking for Noche Buena and reuniting with your entire clan!
3. Party hard.
Yup, the holidays are the perfect excuse to let your inner party animal out! Make sure you meet up with all your groups of friends, and take it up a notch by organizing those get-togethers yourself! If you want to go out of your comfort zone and party outside your close circle, this is also a great opportunity to mingle and make fresh connections without the intention of finding love. Simply enjoy the conversations that you'll have and the company you'll experience among new acquaintances!
4. Binge-watch as much as you can.
Okay, if you're not the "party hard" type, you can also opt to savor your holiday break by staying in and catching up on those TV series you missed out on while working extra hard in the past few weeks. And because you now have all the time in the world (A.K.A. your two-week freedom,) you might want to start watching that new show that caught your attention months ago!
Your Christmas list must be shorter if you're single this year. Christmas shopping wouldn't be as hard compared to that time when you're in a relationship, where you have to think of what to give your S.O.—not to mention buying gifts for their family members, too! Now, you can get yourself an extra outfit to wear to one of your holiday parties!
6. Book a spontaneous getaway.
The holiday season is the perfect time to travel even if it's just a two-hour drive away from the city. Travelling on your own gives you time to reflect and review how your year went. This is the perfect opportunity to hit refresh and start the New Year right!
7. Make fun of your singlehood.
We all have our #feels about singlehood, but they don't have to be bitter ones! Why not inject some sense of humor to your grief, and let it all out on social media with some tasteful crying GIFs and memes? Doing this in a funny and respectful manner may just be a great outlet to get rid of any residual pain that would put a crimp on your Christmas season.
Being single this holiday season isn't that bad at all! There are so many things you can still do and have maximum fun. Who knows, maybe next year will be the year you will find yourself kissing someone under the mistletoe!
