On the morning of November 27 (or evening of November 26 night in Eastern Time), Filipinos watched as Rachel Peters competed against 91 girls from around the world in hopes of becoming the fourth Filipina to win Miss Universe after Gloria Diaz, Margie Moran, and, more recently, Pia Wurtzbach. They paid close attention as the 26-year-old presented herself before hosts Steve Harvey and Ashley Graham, commentators Carson Kressley and Lu Sierra, the judges, and the audience over at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino—the pageant's venue. While keeping busy voting and extending support via social media, naturally all eyes were on her outfits, too.
Days before the competition, our Fil-Brit contender expressed disappointment over photos and videos of her evening gown being leaked. The leaks, taken during the pageant’s preliminary competition last November 20, revealed her in a sheer gold dress designed by Val Taguba (the same man behind the fiery red design she wore when she was crowned Bb. Pilipinas earlier this year). With her locks down, she paired the high slit, sweetheart number with matching colored strappy stilettos and hoop earrings.
Still, this didn’t stop the 5’7’’ beauty from slaying and surprising coronation night! When it was the Top 10’s turn to walk, Rachel opted for a low cut, high slit, silver gown with simple feather details at the hemline. The sparkly style fit her like a glove and she paired the look with matching, sky high heels.
She glimmered like gem just the same at the swimsuit portion! When Philippines was called, she graced the stage in an azure Yamamay bikini and fuschia cover up while showing off her signature "Infinity Walk." All those hours spent exercising, coupled with endless plates of grilled chicken and cauliflower rice sure paid off! The colors also complimented her natural morena skin.

At the start of the pageant, Steve explained that each of the girls would walk the stage according to group: The Americas (Group 1), Europe (Group 2), and Africa & Asia Pacific (Group 3). When it was Rachel’s turn, she stunned the crowd in a sequin chamapagne mini. Viewers got a better view of its side cutout when she was named a semifinalist during the competition’s Wild Card round.
Mad props to her makeup artist, Julián Macías, and Chi for keeping her hair and beauty game in check throughout the event. She may not have brought home the crown, but she looked fab trying.
