The Six Fix: Korean Breakups That Crushed Our Hearts This Year

We all aspire that K-drama kind of love, the one that will sweep us off our feet in the cutest way possible and end with a fairytale wedding - just like our favorite on and off-screen stars! But the sad truth is that not all Korean couples end up in front of the altar, and most of them eventually part ways even before our shipping hearts are ready to let go.

Just today, news about the breakup of Korean stars Lee Min Ho and Suzy Bae was confirmed which literally crushed us more than we thought it would. So here, we list down the hallyu breakups that also left us bummed and second-guessing the existence of #forever. From Min Ho and Suzy to #NamLee, these are the couples who called it quits this year!

1. Lee Min Ho and Suzy Bae

This popular couple started dating back in 2015. After surviving rumors that they've split up in September 2015 and August 2016, we thought that they're truly inseperable. But, alas, we were wrong. Min Ho is currently working as a public service worker for his mandatory military service while Suzy is starring in the drama While We Were Sleeping with Lee Jong Suk.

2. Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Sung Kyung

Seriously, who could resist the cutesy chemistry between these two adorable stars? No one did, for sure! Even before starring together in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, Joo Hyuk and Sung Kyung have been close friends, making their real-life romantic relationship even more kilig! But after a few months of dating, they officially broke up last August according to their management. Well, who believes that, anyway? Speculations that their split was just a publicity stunt ran rampant, and up to this day, #NamLee fans are still strongly rooting for these two!

3. Kai and Krystal

After dating for about a year, EXO's Kai and f(x)'s Krystal called it quits last May. This was definitely heartbreaking because these two stars seemed like a match made in K-pop heaven!

4. Lee Joon Gi and Jeon Hye Bin

These K-drama stars met (and, perhaps, fell in love) on set of their series Jeoson Gunman back in 2014 and only confirmed their two-year relationship in April of this year. However, they've officially broken up last August, proving that even the most cautious of couples don't always work out in the end. Ain't that sad?

5. Joo Won and BoA

Superstar BoA and actor Joo Won have been dating since 2016 but only confirmed their romantic relationship in January of this year. According to sources, they both had similar interests including golf, hiking, and their passion for a healthy lifestyle which made them inevitably click. But good things do come to an end, because, a couple of days ago, they announced their breakup just as Joo Won is in the midst of his military service (much like Lee Min Ho.) Here's to hoping that serving in the military won't always come in between Korean couples!

6. Jang Kiha and IU

When they were still together, IU revealed that she met indie musician Jang Kiha at a radio show and fell in love with him at first sight! They dated for over three years before sadly calling it quits in January of this year.

Even the most swoon-worthy Korean sweethearts can also crush our hopes when it comes to finding true and lasting love. But, hey, that doesn't mean that our "The One" isn't in the horizon! We just have to wait patiently, and perhaps, we will alll find our #SongSong ending sooner or later! Fingers crossed!
