After highly successful productions of Jersey Boys, Fun Home, and Kinky Boots, Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group is back with yet another critically acclaimed musical—one that, this time, is based off a beloved book by Roald Dahl.
Winner of over 80 international awards (including five Tonys!), Matilda, The Musical is making its Philippine debut this November at the Meralco Theater. Matilda tells the story of a little girl who, while ignored by her family, finds friendship in her classmates and love from her teacher Miss Honey. School isn’t exactly smooth sailing though—especially with the evil Miss Trunchbull acting as headmistress. With her astonishing wit, keen intelligence, and psychokinetic powers, Matilda and her classmates embark on a brave mission to change life as they know it.
Three girls will be alternating the role of Matilda, namely Uma Martin, Felicity Napuli, and Esang de Torres. Those who watched the Philippine adaptation of A Little Princess in 2016 will remember Uma for her portrayal of the snobby Lottie. Felicity, meanwhile, is a Gawad Musika Awards winner and star of the short film Duyan ng Alon. Last but not least, Esang appeared on It’s Showtime and The Voice Kids Philippines before making her musical theatre debut as Little Cossette in the Asian leg of Les Misérables.
Matilda runs from November 10 to December 10, 2017 at the Meralco Theater in Ortigas Ave. cor. Meralco Ave., Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Tickets range from P1,500 to P4,000 while shows are scheduled at 8pm on Fridays, 2pm on Weekdays, 2pm & 8pm on Saturdays and 2pm on Sundays. Tickets are available through TicketWorld.
