Hot Stuff: 4 K-Pop Groups You Should Watch Out For!

By Neala Medina

It's no surprise that K-pop is spreading like wildfire in different parts of the world especially in Asian countries. Of course, we Filipino stans are nowhere behind the game when it comes to showing our love for our favorite groups. Lucky for us, lots of K-pop events are happening here in Manila where some of our biggest idols are performing in the flesh!

On October 28, 2017, you better be ready for a line-up of fresh acts that can bring out the fan girl/boy in you. In the second installment of K-Pop Republic, four diverse and hitmaking groups will take the stage at the Circuit Makati Event Grounds. In case you don't know them yet, here are the groups you should definitely watch out for!

1. N.Flying

New Flying or commonly known as N.Flying is a rap rock band with pop references. They debuted in 2013 as a quartet, but soon found a fifth member in the form of Yoo Hwe Seung, a former Produce 101 (a popular survival show for aspiring idols in South Korea) Season 2 contestant, who joined the group last June 19, 2017 as a main vocalist. The band recently released an album entitled The Real: N.Flying with the song "The Real" as their title track which highlighted a rap rock genre with upbeat tunes and powerful vocals contributed by their newest member. PH N.Fias will surely be stoked since this is the first time N.Flying will visit the Philippines!

2. Cosmic Girls

Bubblegum pop, school girl aesthetic, bouncy tunes, and a large number of members definitely describe Cosmic Girls (WJSN) as a whole. This South Korean-Chinese 13-member girl group of Starship Entertainment consists of 4 units namely, Joy Unit, Wonder Unit, Sweet Unit, and Natural Unit which consists of 3-4 members each. Their bubbly appearance, sweet voices, and aura on stage are definitely to watch for!

3. GFriend

Known as one of the best dancers in the scene, GFriend can also be characterized as a group of great performers. The 6-piece group debuted back in 2015, shaking the K-pop industry with their complicated choreographies and girl-next-door vibes. With every comeback, their songs range from dancey tunes to melancholic ballads. This won't be the first time GFriend will bless our shores with their music, but PH Buddies should be hyped for new performances including the recent title track, "Love Whisper."

4. NCT 127

Last but certainly not the least, one of the most unique K-pop acts to ever exist, NCT 127 is sure to make you swoon. As the second sub-unit of SM Entertainment's Neo Culture Technology (NCT), 9-member NCT 127's music has a wide range of genres from experimental hip hop to electropop which make them stand out from the usual catchy pop melodies that trend in the Korean music scene. They made a breakthrough with their recent EP Cherry Bomb which shattered album sales records, and their title track "Cherry Bomb" appealed to an international audience as well. The music video even charted high on MYX for weeks! NCT 127 can also be chracterized as a group with superior skills in performing be it rapping, dancing, or singing. Their choregraphies and performances are insane and PH NCTzens are surely anticipating for the "biggest hit on the stage" once they finally hit it.

With all these talented artists, K-Pop Republic 2 will surely be a blast and you better not miss it! Grab your tickets now at SM Tickets, and make sure to bring your fellow stans!
