Last October 18, Plains & Prints finally unveiled its Holiday Collection at the SM Megamall Mega Atrium. The highly anticipated, 10-piece collection was Inspired by limited edition Barbies—one from each decade since her debut in 1959.
We sat down with the brand's lovely endorser Anne Curtis just weeks before this happened. But even then, the soon-to-be Mrs. Heussaff couldn’t contain her excitement. See, Barbie played (no pun intended) a big part of almost every girl’s childhood. And she was definitely part of hers.
“I was a fan! I had the car, dollhouse, Ken, and several different Barbies,” the 32-year-old exclaims.
The iconic doll influenced Anne’s way of dressing. “That’s how I started to love pink,” she confesses. “It was pink everything! Pink bedsheets for the bed [and] a pink Corvette.”
Color wasn’t the only thing that made an impact on the actress-host. “She introduced me to that whole girly aspect of fashion—from gowns to short skirts. I guess that’s where you learn your fashion sense because you dress your Barbie as you would yourself,” she explains.
Just as Barbie’s look evolved over the years, Anne has experienced her own set of changes, too. “I’ve gone all over the place! From being girly, to being boyish, to being Korean inspired [laughs], to being fierce—I’m open to anything!” Likewise, she’ll be the first to tell you that she’ll never, ever stick with one style. “I go with what my mood is or the weather. I love to play around,” she adds of the collection.
