The Glam Squad Diaries: Brent Sales on Dolling Up Liza, Bea, Angeline, and Kaye

Less is more—that was the hairstyle M.O of Brent Sales for the 9th Star Magic Ball, something his clients requested themselves. “They all wanted minimalist looks—relaxed can still definitely look glam with the right techniques,” he shares. Taking into consideration the gowns of the ladies’, their looks in the previous years, and personal preferences, here are the ‘dos Brent came up with, plus tips on how you can pull them off:

Bea Alonzo. “Bea has tried slicked back hair several times and now gustong gusto na nya but she has also been wanting to achieve a version like Kim Kardashian’s—yung hindi mukhang may hairspray. When I went to London, I really hunted down the same product she uses to achieve a more natural-looking slicked back ‘do on Bea.”

Liza Soberano. “For her red carpet look, her gown’s designer, Michael Cinco, prepared a peg—a younger version of Veronica Lake. Dinarken namin yung hair nya and then though Veronica Lake had sultry waves, for Liza, we did the undone look, kumbaga parang kumulot lang ng konti and medyo magulo—our specific peg was a photo of Dakota Fanning with loose waves. And since her gown was big, hindi na kailangang super plakado yung hair.”

Kaye Abad. “Kaye (pictured here with boyfriend Paul Jake Castillo) wore an Inno Sotto gown that was minimalist in front but had lots of beading at the back so we did a slick Mexican-inspired side bun. She said gusto nya kalma lang and malinis lang so a relaxed bun was the perfect choice.”

Angeline Quinto. “She just wanted a ponytail so we did a fun version with some loose strands framing her face, which complemented her fully embellished gown.”
