There's this saying by Confucius that goes, "Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated." Well, we certainly agree with that! We are the ones who put ourselves into dangerous situations most of the time. Even though we know the bad and the good idea, the right and the wrong decision, it seems like the hard-headed kid in us keeps on doing what it wants to do! If you feel like you belong to those who make their lives more complicated and harder than it has to be, then read on!
1. You overthink.
A friend didn’t greet you at exactly twelve midnight on your birthday or your mom didn’t allow you to go out on a Friday night. Worry no more, because we are pretty sure they have their good reasons. Maybe that friend has a surprise for you or your mom is just concerned about your safety.
2. You hold grudges.
We understand that it’s hard to forgive and forget. But when the breakup happened over a year ago, then don’t you think it’s better to move on and just start anew? Take a deep breath and think of it as something to lead you closer to the life that is meant for you.
3. You conclude too early.
Failing a quiz or your first job interview is not the end of your life! We’ve all gone through those scenarios at some point in our lives. Instead of concluding that your life is over, why not see it as a challenge to become the better you?
4. You expect.
Life is spontaneous! What we plan is not always going to be followed through in reality. It’s not a fiction where happily-ever-after comes in just twelve chapters or less. Our lives aren’t like that, so don’t expect to be saved by your Prince Charming or Fairy Godmother when your story becomes bumpy. In other words, life isn't a fairytale. You are your own hero and you are the only one who can make things happen if you work hard enough.
5. You compare.
You saw on IG that your favorite traveler recently got engaged and the proposal happened at the base camp of Mt. Everest. My friend, don’t compare your life to hers! You have no idea what actually happened to her before finally being happy. There’s no need to be jealous. You’ll have your time to shine. Focus on what’s in front of you right now and be grateful for it!
Life is a gift from the heavens, and we can make it as simple as it can be. We just have to find ways to make it easier – and happier!
