Growing up, animated films were life. Even as we grew older, our love for "cartoons" never really leave us, but what's more exciting for us in this day and age is when our favorite animations are recreated into live action films! Today, as big film production companies do this, they become much cooler to watch, giving us a new unforgettable experience with our beloved childhood favorites. Here's a list of the best animated movies-turned-live action films so far!
1. Beauty and the Beast (2017)
Remember the Beast that smiles with a scowl? Or the Beauty who wore a glittery yellow dress and the castle full of enchanted things, such as the candle holder and pendulum clock? The original Disney animated film released in 1991 was remade into a live-action film just this year, and it was a huge box office hit with an all-star cast led by the Emma Watson as the precious Belle.
2. Cinderella (2015)
A classic that still captures the hearts of many since it was released by Disney in 1950, the 2015 live action remake features actress Lily James stars as the iconic maiden who lost her glass shoe and found true love. With Cate Blanchett as the stepmother, Helena Bonham-Carter as the fairy godmother, and Richard Madden as the prince, this film is definitely pure magic!
3. Charlotte's Web (2006)
Do you love pork? Well, things may little change when you watch this movie. The story is about the adorable pig named Wilbur who was saved from being slaughtered—and Charlotte, the barn spider, was his savior. Remade from the 1973 original, this version stars the young Dakota Fanning with Julia Roberts as the voice of the titular character.
4. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Knowing that the movie was first released as a cartoon is one of the coolest thing to know, right? The first movie adaptation titled The Lord of the Rings was released in 1978 from an epic high fantasy novel with the same title. This awesome live action film is about the middle-world battle of elves, hobbits, powerful wizards, and freakish monsters with the presence of courageous men protecting the human race, but you already knew that!
5. Alvin and the Chipmunks (2007)
Are you ready to hear the cute, high-pitched voices of Alvin and his chipmunk boy band members, Theodore and Simon? Alvin and the Chipmunks first came out as a television animated series during the 1980s, while the live action musical comedy was released in 2007. For a feel-good break, join these adorable creatures as they chase their way to fame!
6. Casper (1995)
Casper was first known as "The Friendly Ghost" in an animated film way back in 1945. The film was turned into a fantasy comedy in 1995, which starred then-child wonders Christina Ricci and Devon Sawa. You are 100% a '90s kid if you've seen this film mutiple times and believed that ghosts have hearts, too!
