"I wish I had" are words that can linger on your mind. There are things you'd like to change, but you cannot. You know that bringing back the past is a fairytale. When you think about moving on, you hope that you can get over it. You keep on asking yourself, how? Regrets are always around and they give everyone either lessons or traumas in life based on how you handle it. You have to think that mistakes will help you to be better. You will experience it as your life goes on. Maybe some of you cannot find the best path to moving on brought by your regrets.
Regrets in life are inevitable. But despite all our failures and shortcomings, there are still ways to lessen our “what ifs” in the future.
These are the things that I've learned, and I hope you can find something worth picking up for yourself.
Do what you love, experience what you like. You may not be able to do all the things you want in this world, but there are others you can try. Enjoy your life doing your interests. When you do this, it will make you feel more relaxed. You will realize strengths and weaknesses. It will be a good opportunity to improve your potentials. You’ll get to know yourself more, and happiness will likely to follow.
Don’t be afraid to fail. Trying is knowing. Knowing will make you successful. In life, we are not always sure of the right thing to do until we do them and then we learn. Failures are unforgettable lessons that will teach us to be tough and enlighten us that there are reasons to stop dwelling on your mistakes.
Be open and connected with others. This could be friends, your family, or any loved one. Let them feel that you are present, and chances are they will do the same. This will help your relationships grow and you won't ever feel left behind. You just have to give time to everyone who matters to you.
Have control and contentment. We tend to believe that people have no contentment. When we get what we want, it's as if there's always something else to achieve after that. The trick is to learn how to be content. The things you need and want should not be overmuch. You have learn to control yourself and be glad of what you have and focus on the things that you know will make you genuinely happy.
Learn to look on the brighter side. You have to start being optimistic once you're finally ready to step away from what's been bringing you down. In a sense, happiness is a choice. And you're the only one who can decide when to pick yourself up, start fresh, and love your life again.
These are my ways on how to recover and prevent regrets in my life. You just have to do something, whatever that can make you feel good about yourself again. Those hardships may take time to heal, but you have to find ways to accept the past and just move forward.
