In recent years, highlighter has become an essential beauty secret if you want to achieve that dewy, glowy, and healthy-looking skin. As with all makeup, however, you have to know your skin type to also find the highlighter that will work best on you. No matter what brand it is—whether it's a great drugstore find or a high-end palette—as long as it matches your skin type and skin tone and you know where to apply it (cheekbones, bridge of the nose, temples, Cupid’s bow, all the high points of your face you want tp emphasize), you can definitely slay all day!
For Oily Skin
Considering the humid temperature in the Philippines, having oily skin is normal for Filipinas. That being said, you don't want to look greasy by using liquid illuminators or cream highlighters.
Girls with oily skin would usually go for matte foundation, but if you want make sure your face doesn't look flat, go for powder or baked highlighters. You can use a fluffy or fan makeup brush to apply the powde on the areas you want to highlight.
For Dry Skin
When your skin is dull, irritated, and lacking moisture, your skin is a little trickier to deal with. With proper skincare prior to applying makeup and using foundation with satin or luminous finish, you can create a great base for the rest of your look. An added glow courtesy of liquid illuminators, using a makeup sponge to blend (or you can also use your fingers), would also help! These work best for dry skin types to prolong the moisture on your face.
For Normal and Combination Skin
Cream highlighters can often be found in a stick form, which you can directly apply onto your face and using your fingertips to blend. If you have normal or combination skin, cream highlighters work for you as it’s not too matte and not too sheer. This kind of highlighter is key to achieving that #NoMakeupLook. Unlike powder and liquid highlighters, cream highlighters are very travel-friendly and easy to use!
We hope this would help you identify which type of highlighter works best for you. Now, you can take that selfie that will surely serve #ContourGoals!
