From Junk to Treasure (and Fashion Statement)

The bi-annual Manila FAME is the best convention to showcase excellent craftsmanship from our fellow Filipinos. From the 60th Manila FAME held last October 16-19, 2014, the jewelry business of Milagros Imson, a native of Mecauayan, Bulacan, has an interesting take on her products under the Kit Silver Jewelry line.

Mila Imson, owner of Kit Silver Jewelry.

Founded in 1980, Imson’s jewelry business mainly focused on gold jewelry and later on expanded with silver and brass jewelry, of which eventually became their main line of products. Starting off with bazaars, Kit Silver Jewelry has made it big into the industry, even having clients from Dubai and Paris as their primary buyers.

In fact, even local personalities like Kris Aquino, Marian Rivera, Shamcey Supsup-Lee, Bea Rose Santiago, and Senator Grace Poe are among the clients of Kit Silver Jewelry.

Imson’s trademark element with her jewelry line? Aside from the intricate details of their products, Kit Silver Jewelry has transformed junk and scrap metal into statement pieces! A perfect example? Their piece named “Balabal”, which garnered a lot of attention and inquiries during the 60th Manila FAME exhibit.

Aside from having interesting pieces in store, Kit Silver Jewelry has also received awards; among them is the Katha Award for Best Product Design in Jewelry in 2012 for their piece “Feather Agate by Lafina Moda”.
