It's been awhile since Cris Lomotan's acting stint on Imortal, the hit series years ago with Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz. Lately, besides acting and modeling, he's been running his lifestyle streetwear line, Outkast Paradigm. While scrolling through Cris' personal Instagram feed you'll find that fitness, style, fun, and family all blend together in one beating thread.
As a fitness and lifestyle influencer, Cris has managed to link his online reach to support his clothing business. At the same time, he has built a reputation as a role model for dads who live away from their children but still put in precious hours to be with them. Doting on his daughter, Cassey, he shares what made him a more responsible man and what pushed him to be an even better individual.
What’s changed the most about you since becoming a dad?
"Kasi ngayon, I’m living in a Christian world. Gusto ko palakihin siya in that way din. Fe-feed ko lang siya ng mga good values at paramdam mo lang sa kanya na mahal mo siya.
Actually ngayon, gusto ko siya isama. Nagstart ako ng mga, parang mission, parang nagmimission kami sa mga remote areas last year, and gusto ko siya ngayon ipagpatuloy. So pumupunta kami sa mga bundok na hindi binibigyan ng tulong. We gather up food, clothes, and toys. So pagpunta naming doon, hindi ka lang nagpunta doon para mamigay ng mga gamit, nandun din kami to share God’s work. Na, hindi ito galing samin, but through Him. Na naging instrument lang kami to share the blessings. So parang sila, mauunawaan nila na after this, hindi lang sila magrerely doon, may prayer sila. Maraming possible things to hold on to.
Kasi ako, I’ve been in that situation, so I know. Kaya yun yung naging mentality ko. I want my daughter to learn that: to be a giver."
Are there stereotypes about dads that you think are false?
"Kasi pag ang mga girls, sabi nila, nabasa ko lang, pag hindi nila nararamdaman ang father figure sa kanila, may tendency na pagkalaki nila, naghahanap sila kaagad ng boyfriend. Gusto nila kaagad maexplore yung world. So, nawawala. Yun yung isa sa ayoko mawala sa nararamdaman nila. Na may father siya na lagi siyang mahal kasi gusto ko yung closeness na andun hanggang sa lumaki na siya. Gusto ko andun yung bond, yung samahan namin."
Who is your role model?
"Iba iba kasi. It depends eh. Siguro si God."
What tips would you want to give first-time dads?
"Siguro ang mabibigay ko ay, as much as possible, bigyan nila ng time. As much as possible, maging hands-on sila. And 'wag nilang tanggalin yung father figure sa mga anak nila kasi sobrang importante."

Describe your diet and workouts.
"I do gym, crossfit, and boxing. As you age, bumabagal metabolism mo. White rice, tinanggal ko, pinalitan ko ng brown or red rice. Laging di mawawala yung gulay. Grilled, more protein."
What's your advice for staying stylish and kempt?
"Hindi yun mawawala. Yun yung ginagawa ko talaga. I’m into fashion. so I make it a point na yung pinapakita ko. Kahit dad na ako, every dad, kaya niyo pa rin 'toh. Walang masama, hindi pangit or what. Nasasayo yan: how you carry yourself. So as long as your comfortable and alam mo sa sarili mo na nadadala mo, yun."
What do you normally post online?
"Our bonding moments. To be honest, I’m not living with my daughter. She lives with her mom. There’s an arrangement, and time is very precious for me, especially our bonding time. My daughter and I are very close. I still do the same things with her para ma-feel niya na may father siya na nagagawa yung mga yun. So yung pinopost ko sa social media, yung bonding moments, pag nagswi-swimming, nasa labas, or naglalaro siya."
What are the most touching comments you’ve gotten from your posts?
"Yung time na first time ko siyang pinost, my daughter. So maraming nagcomment, 'daddy ka na pala! Ganda ng daughter mo!' Actually, sa akin, yun na yung pinakatouching kasi in our industry, hindi naman madali na mag-expose na may anak eh. So parang, you do acting or modeling, and sometimes when they find out may anak ka na, people see you differently."
In your opinion, has social media give people a better idea of who you are and what you do you?
"Actually medyo ayoko i-post yung mga ginagawa ko ngayon eh. Gusto ko mas private. Pero once in a while, yeah. Pero ayoko magmukhang, '"Wow' pakitang tao."
Anything planned for Father’s Day?
"Dinner and bonding with my daughter."
