Where To Next: Exploring Pokhara's Beauty Through Kim Chiu's Eyes

Recently, we caught up with host-influencer Vince Velasco about his Nepal expedition last May. While Vince was not able to react the basecamp of Mt. Everest due to a near-death experience, the whole trip was definitely one for the books. Vince fell in love with Nepal so much, he looks forward to coming back soon, and hopefully reach the basecamp this time.

Interestingly, just like Asian countries Japan and South Korea, Nepal is becoming a must-visit place for travel lovers. Case in point: Kim Chiu recently spent a few days in Nepal, specifically in Kathmandu and Pokhara. There, the Chinita Princess shot scenes for her upcoming movie The Ghost Bride. And in between tapings, well, what else for wanderlust-high Kim but to explore the place? On her to-do’s while in Pokhara: Picture-raking, boating, paragliding!

Pokhara is the biggest city in Nepal, spanning approximately 10 times bigger than Kathmandu in land area. Barely affected by the April 2015 earthquake that cost almost 9,000 lives and led to around 22,000 injuries, it's a pretty laidback city with various adventure sports and several treks leading to the Annapurna mountain range for the adventure seekers.

As for Kim, check out the places in Pokhara where she spent her “work-cation!”

Shanti Stupa Pagoda. Located on the hilltop of Anada Hill, the Buddhist monument was built to symbolize world peace and the first of which in Nepal. Tourists visiting this monument will enjoy a panoramic view of Phewa Lake, Pokhara City, and the Annapurna mountain range.

Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave. Located at the other side of the Shanti Stupa Pagoda, and near Devi's is Nepal's most famous cave. Measuring 2950 meters long, the sacred cave is home to several shrines, the biggest of which was built in honor of Shiva, the third god in the Hindu triumvirate.

Phewa Lake. Located south of Pokhara Valley, this freshwater lake is famous for its crystal clear reflection of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges and Mount Machapuchare, a sacred mountain. Those visiting this lake can enjoy boat rides and a variety of water sports activities.

Sarangkot. This hilly destination rewards tourists with a perfect view of the Himalayan mountain range. It's best to visit this attraction at dawn or dusk to capture a picture-perfect shot of Nepal's famed mountain range.
