In the one's overall wellness, the importance of fitness cannot be emphasized enough. Staying active keeps your body functioning at a high level, maintaining your overall performance and keeping health issues associated with a sedentary lifestyle under control.
No one does fitness quite like the lean and lively Wil Dasovich—precisely why Philam Life chose him as fitness ambassador for its 'Live Better' campaign. (Live Better is a wellness campaign that aims to encourage Filipinos to live life to the fullest.) We sat down with the young Fil-Am vlogger and PBB alumnus for some key takeaways that would inspire you to take charge of your fitness journey!
Consistency is key. Taking action every single day towards your goal will always trump doing things occasionally. "Do it even if it's just 10 to 15 minutes just so you have a mental imprint that you worked out that day," advises Wil. "The hardest part is starting. You just have to get over that hump, suck it up, and do it."
Keep it simple, sweetheart. Our ability to get in shape is not nearly as complicated as many would like us to believe. "You don't need a gym, I do everything at home," says Wil, adding that his philosophy of simplicity extends to the exercises he includes in his routine. "I do very basic stuff: different variations of push ups, pullups, and situps. That's got me to where I am today."
Stretching is important. A step that is often skipped, incorporating stretches after your workout improves your flexibility and raange of motion. "You have to work on your flexibility," adds Wil. "Keeping your body loose is important to keep an even blood flow."
Keep a good mindset. When you fill your mind with positive thoughts, you can count on a lot of good things to come your way. "If you're stressing too much about your fitness progam, that's really going to take you away from your goals," Wil reveals.
Baby steps take you farther. A little progress each day adds up to big results. Will says that setting mini milestones to achieve on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis are far more attainable, helping you maintain focus on your overall goal. "You have to learn how to crawl before you walk," relates Wil, "As you keep achieving and reaching these smaller goals, you'll get that much closer to the bigger ones."
Keep things entertaining. The last thing you want is to get bored with something because you do it so much. "If you're getting bored with your program, it's going to demotivate you," relates Wil, sharing some tricks he personally uses to mix his routines up. "I do things that kind of trick myself into exercising but you're really just having fun. I bike a lot, from one location to another, go on a hike, play sports."
