Last week, news broke that Kapamilya teen queen Liza Soberano will be portraying Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach in an upcoming episode of ABS-CBN’s drama anthology Maalala Mo Kaya (MMK).
Maybe the camera just loves her. Or perhaps it’s just her natural acting flair. Call us biased, but based on the promo the teaser released, there probably couldn’t be a more perfect casting (besides, of course, Liza’s own confirmation that she will also be playing Darna in director Erik Matti’s upcoming film adaptation)! And because we’re so stoked, we came up with a list of reasons that make her the best possible Kween P.

1. They’re both of mixed race. Pia’s last name gives away her German heritage, while Liza is of Filipino-American descent. While having foreign blood may or may not have been a requirement for the role, it certainly helps the 19-year-old look the part.
2. She’s got the body for it. Pia worked very hard for the figure she has now. Even when she was still Bb. Pilipinas, the then 25-year-old followed a strict diet of “egg whites and chicken breast and vegetables” all of which were boiled or steamed. She also had grueling workout sessions with pageant trainers like John Cuay to sculpt her body in time for the Miss Universe competition.
Liza too, keeps fit through exercise. Here, she is working on her obliques with celebrity trainer Bok Santos, whose roster of clients also includes Kathryn Bernardo, JC De Vera, and Alexa Ilacad.

3. She’s got the acting chops! Liza’s already has established herself as a top-billing actress, having starred in primetime teleseryes Forevermore and Dolce Amore as well as blockbuster films like Everyday I Love You and, more recently, My Ex and Whys. It’s not everyday that one is asked to play the part of a Kween (who, coincidentally, has acting experience too!) but we’re sure this pretty teen can mimic the rollercoaster of emotions that Pia must’ve felt throughout her Miss U journey.
4. Pia herself thinks Liza has potential! When asked on Twitter to name a Filipina celebrity she thought could be a Miss Universe wear and the crown, her choice was none other than the pretty teen.
Even Pia’s mentor, Aces and Queens', Jonas Gaffud, agrees! This post on his personal Instagram account says it all.
And while Liza was flattered and isn’t closing her doors to beauty pageants in the future, she has said in an interview with ABS-CBN News that acting remains her primary focus. But when the time comes and she changes her mind, we won’t be surprised if legions of Filipinos will cheer her on!
