May 18, 2017 marked a new leaf for the Mapúa Institute of Technology after the Commission on Higher Education formally awarded the school its University status. Mapúa is now called the Mapua University, the school announced on its official website.
Mapúa holds pride in its tradition of excellence, and has grown to be the country’s biggest engineering school with 15 undergraduate programs and 18 graduate engineering programs. Mapúa also offers courses in fields like Architecture, Information Technology, Business Management, Multimedia Arts and Sciences, Social Science, and Health Science.
Aside from earning its university status, Mapúa has also earned accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation.
Mapúa was founded on January 25, 1925 by Don Tomas Mapúa, the first registered Filipino architect. Mapúa University has since held its main campus inside Intramuros, Manila. Its second campus is located along Gil Puyat Ave. in Makati City.
Mapúa's vision is to be among the best universities in the world, and today we bear witness to this glory. Viva Mapúa!
