The art scene is fast gaining a wider audience, and enthusiasts of all ages are starting to showcase their own art in all forms—calligraphy, watercolor, painting and papercutting, to name a few. Just scroll through your Instagram feed and countless snaps of detailed masterpieces, video tutorials of the basics, or a simple flatlay photo of their works will get you inspired to create your own, too! If you’ve always wanted to craft your own art, put your shoes on and head to these artsy stores around the metro to splash out on your stash. Read on!
The Craft Central. It was a dream-turned-reality for art lovers when the once-virtual The Craft Central finally found a home in Makati! The physical store opened just September of last year, yet it’s been so well received that the creative minds behind this concept, sisters Alexis and Monique Ventura, have already staged an art festival! It’s a one-stop shop for every art-related stuff, so if you’re thinking of buying fresh ink or pads, browsing for gift ideas for your crafty sister, or looking for a new hobby to try, this hub has its doors open wide for you. Find them at 3/F Greenbelt 5, Makati City.
The Wander Space. Love traveling? Love arts? Love coffee? Then, this store is for you! The Wander Space is the brainchild of couple Kim Buenafe and Bam Bondoc who are both in love with traveling. They dreamed of putting up a space where they can take customers to different places around the world through their wide array of travel and art-inspired local products. Not only will you get your fill of wanderlust, but you’ll also satisfy your artsy side while sipping your favorite brew. Now, why not wander here? Find them at Unit 3B, 80 Maginhawa St., Teachers Village East, Quezon City.
Hey Kessy. This shop is almost synonymous to washi tapes. It was owner Mansy Abesamis’ search for the item’s unique designs that led her to the concept, and she has since been creating the cutest products out there. Of course, you’ll find a spot dedicated to these rolls alone—in all kinds of stripes, patterns and shapes in a myriad of colors you can think of. But apart from washi tapes, you can stock up on your art supplies for calligraphy, paper cutting, and other crafts here, as well as enjoy workshops for all those interested! Find them at Level 2, Phase 3, Urban Turf, UP Town Center, Katipunan Ave., Quezon City and Upper Ground Floor, New Wing, Alabang Town Center.
Art Bar. If you frequent Serendra, you've probably already passed by Art Bar. A sleek, two-storey shop housing an extensive selection of pen, paper, paint, and other craft products, this store is an art heaven in the heart of the bustling BGC area. Plus, fun workshops by local artists are also held upstairs every week! It’s a refreshing change of scene after shopping for hours in High Street boutiques, don’t you think? Find them at 1/F Serendra Piazza, Mckinley Parkway, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
Hello MNL Store. Who doesn’t love unique finds? In Hello MNL Store, get ready to score one-of-a-kind pieces that are all proudly Pinoy. Owner Des Ong decided to come up with a shop that supports all-Filipino brands, so from art tools to fancy accessories, it’s less likely to find a similar item elsewhere because they exclusively partner with brands for one-of-a-kind products. We bet it’ll be hard not to hoard! Find them at 864 Moret St., Manila.
