Being a boyfriend is tough, especially if you've got a blogger-influencer for a girlfriend. Just ask Miguel Wycoco, who's a self-confessed "Instagram boyfriend" to Ida Anduyan. He tells Chalk what it's really like to be in this kind of relationship!
I (somehow) get to show and develop my creative side. When we were a new couple, I’d get nervous every time Ida would ask me to take her photos. I’d usually just let her direct everything I needed to do then I’d just click. Now, I get to pick the spot and direct on my own!
I get free ice cream. My girlfriend gets me ice cream after a hard day’s work. You’ll probably think it’s shallow, but Ida and I are ice cream people!
I get to help the love of my life. What’s a better perk than that? One of the best things in our relationship is that we help each other in everything, no matter how big or small. There’s no such thing as “you” and “I,” it’s always “we” and “us.” We truly are partners for life.
I became more patient. I’m impatient—I probably throw out at least 100 curse words on my daily drive because of traffic. Being an Instagram boyfriend helps me develop the patience of a saint as it literally takes hundreds of pictures to get the perfect #ootd. Yes, only one of those pictures (that I worked so hard for) will be chosen and uploaded to her Instagram. Only one.
