For a love team to work, the pair has to have undeniable chemistry. Even if both artists have talent and good looks, if they do not complement each other perfectly, it is highly unlikely that the public will buy into their pairing. Undoubtedly, one of the most successful young love teams in local showbiz that had bankable chemistry on the get go was the Hero Angeles and Sandara Park tandem. At the height of their popularity, they had the power to send legions of fans swooning at their presence, drive TV show ratings to the top of the chart, and rake in record sales in the box-office. The phenomenon that is #HeroSan started in 2004 when the pair joined ABS-CBN's popular reality star search Star Circle Quest. Hero came out as the big winner with Sandara as the runner-up.
At a time when the country was gaga over anything Meteor Garden, a wildly popular Asian telenovela, it was no surprise that the two won the hearts of the public. Hero was a deadringerfor Vic Zhou, one of stars of the hit series that perfectly matched Sandara's Asian good looks.
They starred in Bcuz of U, a romantic comedy about a trio of different love stories that are intertwined by a vintage car. For their first film, Hero and Sandara joined other big stars like Kristine Hermosa, Diether Ocampo, Heart Evangelista, and Geoff Eigenmann.
The film did so well that they were immediately given their solo film, Can This Be Love, a movie that delves into the complications of interracial relationships.
They were even frequent guests on ASAP, and also starred in the hit teleserye' Krystala.
Unfortunately, the twosome was short lived, as rumors of the friction forming a gap in between. Sandara flew back to South Korean to pursue further studies while controversies surrounding his contract prompted the transfer of Hero to another network.
After their split, their career paths took very different trajectories. Sandara became part of the famous Korean pop group 2NE1, eventually establishing a successful solo career as a singer, actress, and host.
Hero remained in the Philippines, appearing once in a while in local shows. He briefly dabbled in film making, directing a movie called Stockroom',which sold out at the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival. He also pursued his passion for art, establishing an online gallery in Instagram dedicated to his different expressions of thoughts and ideas.
