ABS-CBN Lifestyle Asks: Pinoy Celebs Speak Out On Tito Sotto’s ‘Na-Ano Lang’ Joke

A lot has happened since Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III found himself in hot water last week. Next to the criticisms from VP Robredo herself and the rest of the Filipino netizens about his rather offensive comment on single moms, there were also those pointing out that Sotto’s daughter, Ciara, should be insulted herself.

It can be remembered how Sotto commented on Social Welfare Secretary Judy Taguiwalo’s single parenthood. He was asking about the latter being a mom of two daughters out of wedlock.

"On the lighter side, Sen. Drilon and I were looking at the personal information about you and you have 2 children, daughters ba or sons? Two daughters. But you're single," Sotto began.

The controversial senator went on to hear about Taguiwalo’s anecdotes of her youth, including her years as a human rights victim back in the Marcos’regime.

"In the street language, when you have children and you are single, ang tawag doon ay 'na-ano lang,'" he would quip.

"Mr. Sotto, I teach Women's Studies so we respect all kinds of families, and that includes solo parents,” she would answer back.

Taguiwalo’s ‘fighter’ response as a former UP professor and women’s studies expert might have put Sotto back in his place, but more public figures have since voiced out their disapproval. Among these are the following celebrities we stalked for some current affairs chat at the star-studded #TribesSummerCamp last weekend! Watch them weigh in on the issue here!
