Lifestyle Hotshots: Armed With A Six-Pack, ONE FC's Mark Striegl Is Your Newest Online Fitspo!

Daily, we are bombarded on social media with photos of men working out at the gym, flexing their muscles in true GGSS (gwapong gwapo sa sarili) style. That’s not entirely bad, but it can get tiring, so when we see cuties who are making their fitness social media posts count by packing them with tips, their posts get definite double taps. ONE FC and Evolve Mixed Martial Artist Mark Striegl is one of the rare few who makes a statement on social media not just with his good looks, but with his generosity in terms of sharing his tried-and-tested healthy lifestyle hacks. His workout videos and dietary techniques have been making the rounds online for their efficacy... you're missing out on a lot if you haven't seen them yet.

How millennial are you and why?

“I do identify with the millennial generation in some ways. This is a digital age and I can't live without the internet. Also, as a professional fighter, it's not a 9-5 job and I do a bit of everything.”

How do you counter the myth about millennials being too entitled?

“I am impatient but I don't have a short attention span or a sense of entitlement. Martial arts has taught me that you need to work hard for everything. You don't get six pack abs overnight.”

How did you get started with using social IG in your projects/advocacies?

“I started when I turned professional as a fighter. I started by documenting and posting all of my fights and competitions. Now I use it as a tool to motivate and communicate with my fans who want to learn how I stay fit.”

As a millennial, we’re feeling you still want to have more in life. What else do you dream of doing in the future despite juggling a lot of stuff now?

“I think that's just part of being young and aggressive. The sky's the limit.”

How meticulous are you with your posts? Describe your process.

“I just have my set of guidelines that I stick to. I try to keep it fun and cool.”

What was your greatest social media/online moment like?

“For me, usually those moments come around the time I have my fights. My fans see my process leading up to my fights with the struggles that come along, like hard training and diet. Then there's the peak of the fight itself and of course the exhilaration that comes when I win.”

What do you think is your most ‘exciting’ post? Which one receives the most likes?

“My fight posts get the most traffic and more recently my workout and fitness videos.”

If you were to create your own hashtag, what would that be and why?

“#FoodFitnessFun—it basically sums up my personality.”

What are your mid-summer plans?

“I might go to Tokyo. Not because it's trendy but because I grew up there and my family lives there.”

Any dream destination and why?

“I want to go to Istanbul, Turkey, because it's rich in history and mainly the food looks unbelievable.”

Ideal summer escapade and why?

“I just got back from a short getaway trip at a resort in Bataan. I definitely plan on going back sometime soon.”

Ideal summer date and why?

“My ideal summer date would be going to a nice beach resort and feasting throughout the day. I don't mind seeing my partner in a bikini with a full tummy. As long as my tummy is full too haha.”

How do you maintain your bod during the summer?

“I always try to squeeze in workouts. It doesn't hurt to do a 15-minute workout and in the end you just feel better and have more energy.”

Fave workout?

“I'm a mixed martial artist. I like to mix things up and do everything. Anything that gets the heart rate up is good with me.”

Most recommended diet?

“There are so many bogus diets out there and I've tried a lot. At the end of the day, you have to be mindful of your carb, sugar, and salt intake and simply eat less and exercise regularly. You can't deprive your body of good food but the body functions best when it's not overfed. I love my ice-cream, pizza, and ramen, but I don't eat them for three days straight.”

Your most effective gwapo trick?

“I've been told that I have nice dimples, so I try to flash a big smile.”

Your most effective trick to get the girl?

“I'm a genuine guy so I don't play games. I'm pretty straightforward and I think that works.”
