Before all else, Anthony Wahl is a traveler. He is always, invariably, some place. At 28 years-old, this muscular Filipino-Hungarian charmer can lay claim to a berth of places he has called home: the United States, Hungary, China and the Philippines. A nomad for a better part of a decade, Anthony has gained a perspective that few of his age can claim. His thirst for meaning drives him to take control of his own narrative, instead of treading the traditional path. Owning his own e-commerce company allows him the mobility to explore, seeking meaningful experiences to enrich his understanding of the world. Being a self-confessed nerd might seem like an oxymoron, but his focused, pragmatic attitude and encyclopedic knowledge of random tidbits prove that there is definitely more to Anthony than what meets the eye.
How millennial are you and why?
“Maybe slightly more than I’d like to admit. I’m very free spirited. I would rather design the life that I would want to live, assume it now rather than defer it until retirement. ”
How do you counter the myth about millennials being too entitled?
"I started selling things online to help pay off my college bills. I stopped for a few years after I took my first corporate job. But, after a while, I realized that the cubicle life isn’t for me. I decided to pursue my e-commerce interest full-time."
How did you get started with using social IG in your projects/advocacies?
“My IG feed is purely for showcasing things that fascinate me, excite me or grab my interest. I love to travel, especially around the Philippines. I also post about my nutrition and fitness journey."
As a millennial, we’re feeling you still want to have more in life. What else do you dream of doing in the future despite juggling a lot of stuff now?
"I have my own business where I develop coconut products and sell them online for the United States market. I plan to expand my reach to the countries, hopefully Asia and Europe. I’m also pivoting and expanding my product line to include new ones that are based on Moringa."
How meticulous are you with your posts? Describe your process.
"I curate my feed very carefully. I like to showcase the best of the Philippines that I see during my travels and hopefully inspire other people to come to here and experience it for themselves. The country is just so blessed to have some many islands, each offering a different experience from the other."
What was your greatest social media/ online moment like?
"I was in Cayman Island and I was in this sandbar where I got to swim with dozens and dozens of stingrays."
What do you think is your most ‘exciting’ post? Which one receives the most likes?
"It was a post about my sister, Liz Wahl, who resigned on-air as news anchor for a Russian-finded network as a form of protest over Russian President Vladimir Putin's incursion on Ukraine."
What are your mid-summer plans?
"There are more adventures in the Philippines that can last three lifetime. I’d like to explore the different sights and sounds here. I’ll be doing a 3-day 30k hike in Mt. Amuyao, Banaue."
Any dream destination and why?
"Africa. I’ve never been there before."
Ideal summer escapade and why?
"I want to go back to Budapest and spend some time reliving the good times of my childhood and maybe brush up on my Hungarian, which is getting a bit rusty."
Ideal summer date and why?
"A beach getaway where we hop in a car and drive to a beach of our fancy. There, we spend the day doing water activities like paddle boarding, kayaking, and snorkeling."
How do you maintain your bod during the summer?
"I like to focus on exercises that engage your whole core because I’m trying to gain muscle mass."
"My favorite exercises are very basic: pull-ups, squats, deadlifts, and bench press. Basically, functional strength training. I’m also getting interested in kettlebell training and blood flow restriction training."
Most recommended diet?
"I’ve been on the ketogenic diet for the past 18 months. It’s a very low carb, high fat diet. It’s really improved the quality of my life: my energy levels are up, my performance while working has leveled up, I’ve lost a lot of body fat."
Your most effective gwapo trick?
"I flash my dimples. They help a lot to get people to open up and smile back."
Your most effective trick to get the girl?
"Because I’m currently learning how to speak it by watching old Filipino films on YouTube, I enjoy practicing my Tagalog with them!"
