Hot Stuff: Met Gala 2017 Looks (We Think) Our Favorite Celebs Can Easily Pull Off

This year's by-invite or by Anna Wintour's-approval-only Metropolitan Museum of Art Gala (Met Gala) saw another fashion spectacle, but it's not like that we don't already know that. True to this edition's tribute to Rei Kawakubo—the designer behind the Japanese brand Comme des Garcons–we saw a variety of white and red tones and sheer. The result: a treat to the senses featuring an explosion of Eastern and Oriental statements.

As we watched from home, we couldn't help but think to ourselves, "If there were a Met Gala in the Philippines, would it be as glam as this? Would our favorite Kapamilya actors pull off the same level of Hollywood A-lister style?" We consulted fashion authorities Geolette Esguerra and Eldzs Mejia, Metro's Editor-In-Chief and Creative Director, respectively, to help heighten our imagination. We altogether came up with our list of our local showbiz and fashion scenesters whom we think can definitely pull off all these #MetGala2017 gorgeousness! See if you agree!

1. Sarah Geronimo going for Badgirl Riri here in Comme des Garcons

Rising from her tweetums image, Sarah has since grown and matured in terms of presenting herself. It has been an adventure for her in terms of style, too–evolving from sweet and sunny to dark and edgy. If you ask us, Sarah seems to have no difficulty pulling off Rihanna's, dark, Maleficent-esque look on. Check out the photo above, showing her anti-goody goody girl runway look at stylist Bang Pineda's solo show Bang's World last February.

2. Toni Gonzaga pulling off "modelesque" like Cara Delevingne in Chanel

Just like kween Cara, Toni has the slender body perfect for cleavage-revealing but still classy pantsuits. This all-white Patty Ang ensemble Toni wore while hosting a Pinoy Big Brother: 737 episode is proof that she can pull off any look the former Victoria's Secret model can. Atta, girl!

3.  Jessy Mendiola looking va-va-voom like Nicki Minaj in H&M

Nicki has always been a fashion icon among those from the curvy, voluptuous side. We can sense a lot of Jessy's anti-body shaming vibe–one she exuded while walking at a men's magazine bash July last year–in this number by Popo Go and Jun Rufino.

4. Ylona Garcia looking chic in statement bow dresses like Rita Ora in Marchesa

Despite her youth, Ylona can already pull off something as refined and intricate as a bow dress. Before Rita rocked that silk dress during the Met Gala, Ylona also slipped into one at an awards gala in 2016.

5. Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil as prom-ready couples like Selena Gomez (in Coach) and The Weeknd

Instant nominees for Prom King and Queen? Just like new 'It' couple Selena and The Weeknd, the ever-charming onscreen pair Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil would easily make it to the list in any society ball. Just check out LizQuen strutting their stuff together at the 9th Star Magic Ball in 2015, with Liza wearing Michael Cinco and Enrique wearing Pepsi Herrera.

6. Kim Chiu and Xian Lim who possess an ever-evolving sense of style a la power couple Giselle Bundenchen (in Stella McCartney) and Tom Brady (in Tom Ford)

Stylish like living mannequin Giselle and trophy husband Tom, onscreen couple KimXi also stands out for their strong, progressive fashion sense. The The Story Of Us stars showed exactly that at last year's Star Magic Ball, with Kim wearing Val Taguba and Xian wearing Francis Libiran.

7. Vice Ganda being eccentric and experimental like Katy Perry in Maison Margiela

Never mind the haters: Both Katy and Vice are meant to stand out in a crowd wearing loud, bizarre pieces. Remember Vice's show-stopping red outfit at his Pusuan mo si Vice Ganda sa Araneta Center concert last February 14? Red is indeed the new black.

8. Janella Salvador looking princessy like Lily Collins in Giambattista Valli

Janella's Pepsi Herrera gown at the 9th Star Magic Ball reminds us of Lily's goth princess gown in this year's Met Gala.

9.  Bea Alonzo looking queenly like Blake Lively in Versace

Both are established young actresses and have the curves to pull off multi-layered, clevage-bearing gowns. Blake's gown this year reminds us of what Bea wore during the 6th Star Magic Ball in 2012—a black Rajo Laurel gown with excessive feathery details.

10.  John Lloyd Cruz looking beyond dapper like Donald Glover in Burberry

Style-savvy as they are, Donald and John Lloyd would go for different prints and patterns for their garb. John Lloyd's Rajo Laurel suit and bespoke shoes during the 9th Star Magic Ball incited a double take.

11. Julia Barretto being "the sugar, spice, and everything nice" like Kendall Jenner in La Perla

Both stars are admired for their mix of natural charm and enigma, making it easy for them to surprise their fans whether it's the projects they take on or the exciting news stories they get involved with. Looking back to the 10th Star Magic Ball, Julia's Michael Cinco back-showing, beadwork-sewn gown resembles similarities in design with Kendall's Met Gala 2017 dress.

12. KathNiel wowing in white like John Legend in Burberry and Chrissy Teigen in Marchesa

People love the ultimate teen couple KathNiel the same way the world loves John and Chrissy. Both are real and authentic, and are adventurous when it comes to  fashion. KathNiel pulled off a look similar to John and Chrissy's #MetGala2017 outfits at the 9th Star Magic Ball. Props to Michael Cinco and Joey Samson for these unforgettable pieces.

13. Nadine Lustre as 'It' girl Gigi Hadid smokin' in Hilfiger

Avid Nadine fans would often compare her to Gigi, as both are fashion trendsetters commanding attention every time they appear in sight. Eldzs notes that Gigi is currently Nadine's peg, and it is not surprising: Gigi's asymmetrical dress reminds us of Kween Nadya's outfit for her Lady Luster campaign that launched last Valentine's Day!
