You’ve probably seen this promotional video of Uber somewhere on social media, to help promote its UberPool service.
In any case, it’s a creative retelling of Uber rider Filipino AJ Tabangay’s encounter with his college crush while using UberPool.
When it launched on April 17, we got to thinking: What if, while you could wait the man of your (college) dreams to take the same Uber ride as you'd have, wouldn't it be just a gift from God when you have your college crush picking you up as your Uber driver of the day? Yes, imagine your basketball-playing crush who once had you for his on-court skills in the UAAP now greeting into your most incredible commute ever?
Everyone, meet Jeff Olalia–former Adamson University player turned model and part-time Uber driver. Anyone who recalls him might have seen him more lately walking down fashion runways and gracing ad campaigns with his killer smile and gym-sculpted bod. We did a bit more digging to learn why he's getting more five-stars as rating than the rest!
He's a man of many dreams. In 2013, Jeff’s good friend Rigor Gorospe had just won the World Championship of Performing Arts or WCOPA in Hollywood, California. When Rigor returned to the Philippines, he signed with talent company Monaco Models and Casting Agency, which inspired Jeff to try his luck, too. Before that, Jeff focused on basketball in the UAAP until an injury spoiled that career track. Modeling later on lent him more success than basketball, as he's starred in print ads for a car and a condo!
If he weren’t a model or Uber driver, he’d be working at a hotel or an airline. Jeff graduated from Adamson with a degree in Hospitality Management. While studying, he told himself that that if a pro-basketball career didn’t work out, the degree would be a good fallback. Oh, how time changes things.

He's a man of adventure! He loves going places. And no, we’re not talking about to the drop-off points riders put on Uber. Jeff is no stranger to travel—especially when it’s in the Philippines. He’ll gladly venture out of Manila and into the province for fun and adventure. Bataan, Batangas, Romblon and Zambales are among his many visits. Where he goes next is anyone’s guess.

He gladly welcomes his riders' feedback. For the unfamiliar, Uber asks passengers to give feedback on their drivers once they arrive at their destination. Luckily for Jeff, a lot of the comments he gets are good ones (read: less complaints and more compliments!).
Basketball still holds a special place in his heart. Never mind that he suffered a broken hand and dislocated forearm during his collegiate years. To this day, Jeff would trade a working day for a two-hour game on the court with his former teammates against any of their UAAP rivals. He's still proud and supportive of the resident Adamson Soaring Falcons in the present season and beyond. This, especially when the team climbed to the UAAP Final Four for the first time in 2011. Ball is indeed "lyf" for Jeff!
