In Focus: These 5 Katipunan Cafés Have All You Need For Thesis Time

Katipunan, an arterial avenue to major universities in Quezon City, has its fair share of graduating college students running around like headless chickens from the pressure of submitting their theses on time. A well-written thesis, after all, may be their golden ticket to finally graduate and escape the torture called college. #JK #NotRlyKidding

For those who attempt doing it at home but easily get distracted by cartoons on TV or doze off to 8-hour "naps," get off your tempting bed. Instead, visit a thesis writing-conducive café with all your needs to make progress—a relatively quiet and air-conditioned space, reliable Wi-Fi, convenient power ports, food for the brain, and caffeine a.k.a. fuel to boost productivity.

With these criteria in mind, hop to these cafés located only in Katipunan where you can camp out with your laptops for thesis time!

55Square Café

G/F Alcal Bldg, 285 Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City / Open Wednesday to Sunday, 1PM to 11PM

This creative concept, shared with Vongarde Art Gallery, celebrates all things patriotic evident in their Filipino-flavored dishes, Bukidnon-sourced coffee, and Pinoy art exhibits. Inspiration comes at you from every piece! They also host music and poetry open mic nights, perfect for breaks in between thesis chapters.

Equatorial Coffee

Miranda Building, F. dela Rosa Street, Loyola Heights, Quezon City / Open Monday to Sunday, 8AM to 10PM

Get to work right after you snap an artsy photo in this urban and oh-so-Instagram-worthy third wave café. Think soft white and gray walls, wooden accents, mismatched furniture, and visually appealing lattes. Their single-origin coffee beans from the equatorial region of the globe will keep you focused on your objectives and problem statements, for sure.

Third Cup Café

Unit 107, J&R Concon Center, 91 Rosa Alvero Street, Loyola Heights, Quezon City / Open Monday to Sunday, 8AM to 12MN

Need: Caffeine high from three cups of Dirty Chai to help me slay the dragon that is my thesis. The coffee shop’s well-lit and cozy interiors make it another ideal site to work in. For (frequent) cases of late night cramming, it stays open until midnight!

The Study Idea Space

2/F, Regis Center, Katipunan Ave., Quezon City / Open Monday to Sunday, 8AM to 11PM

Where is a more appropriately named idea place to do your academics than here? With two hours of free internet, grab your thesis buddy and a cheesecake latte for a quick sesh of citing your references in quirky cubbyholes.

Diligence Café

Unit 2A, 2/F Elizabeth Hall, Katipunan Avenue, Loyola Heights, Quezon City / Open Monday to Sunday 2:30PM to 7:00AM

It’s coffee o’clock all the time in this unique co-working space! Unlimited WiFi and drinks with napping areas is really a thing. Do thesis revisions in a day and crank out your final draft like the busy productive bee that you are. Avail of their shower service right before submission so you don’t look the crammer part!

Still procrastinating? Get your lazy butt on the chair, buy a hot macchiato for emotional support, place your hands on the keyboard, and write like the wind for that diploma! #ThesisIt #RoadToGraduation
