You might have been seeing this girl’s face a lot lately.
That’s because in April 2016, she became our new Binibining Pilipinas.
Ladies and gents, meet Maxine Medina. She'll be representing the Philippines in the 65th Miss Universe competition on January 30.
Some of you may recognize her from ad campaigns. That’s ‘cause she’s part of the Professional Models Association of the Philippines.

Besides modeling, the stunning 26-year-old also works as an interior designer.
And certainly has an eye for, in her words, "boyish designs".
Speaking of boys, did we also mention that she's dating this one?
Marx Topacio, you are one lucky man.
Multihyphenate, beautiful, and athletic, she's got the makings of a real beauty queen.
But as with all public figures, Maxine has her fair share of criticism—the most recurring being her English language skills.
And, more recently, how she claimed that Imelda Marcos invented the terno (when history says otherwise).
Which btw she’s since apologized for.
Despite these mistakes, Maxine is working hard to improve herself.
Her fellow Binibining Pilipinas contestants can attest to it!
Besides, don’t we all commit grammatical mistakes once in a while?

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach quickly came to her defense and encouraged the public to support instead of criticize her.

Other past Miss U competitors like Charlene Gonzales-Muhlach also has her back, and reminded us of how proud Maxine has already made the country.
Because, if you look past the communication barrier, this girl can set a stage ON FIRE.
And she has a great team behind her.
Now, only time will tell whether she will reign supreme.
