PH sneaker culture on point.
The sneaker culture in Manila is expanding on a massive scale. So massive that even internationally known sneaker enthusiasts would drop by a sneaker event in Manila.
On April 25 at SM Aura’s SMX hall, sneaker enthusiasts and sellers gathered together for Manila Sneaker Expo. While those who visited wore their best sneakers, those who have stalls either displayed their holy grails, or sold some pairs to those who are in search for particular shoes, whether it may be Air Maxes, Gel Lytes, Pump Furies, Superstars, or Air Jordans.
Among the highlights of the event was the appearance of Detroit-based sneaker enthusiast Mark Bostic. Known to the sneakerhead community as Jumpman Bostic, he is best known for having the basement of his house full of various Air Jordans and Michael Jordan memorabilia from three decades, starting from the 1980s.
As part of his visit, Bostic brought along with him ten Air Jordans which he consider as his holy grails. In addition to his appearance, Manila Sneaker Expo raffled off sneakers to lucky visitors during the event. Among those shoes raffled are “Black Infrared” Air Jordan 6s, “Washed Denim” Air Max 90s, “Yeezy” Foamposite Ones, and “Beethoven” Kobe 10s.
